"The course of true love never did run smooth."

In the first place, Leon was never fond of love or human emotions. He was obsessed with overthrowing Zenaku and reshaping the demon clan. There was no time for him to find love, nor was there a place in his heart for the emotion.
Leon sat at the stone railings of the balcony of an old castle near to the shore. The smell of the salty seas and the shine of the moon filled his thoughts.
"Master Leon..." The siren he formed a link with whispered his name delicately, as though it was a sacred name that always needed to be preached. Leon hated that.
"Stop calling me that." He replied, coldly as he stared at the night sky. "What do you want?"
"I just wanted to ask you something." Sharlene fiddled with her fingers behind her back. Leon kept silent.
"D-Did you not want me to be your chosen bride? I promise, although I am just a-" She was cut off by Leon snapping. He turned to her with a glare that could cut deep into her heart.
"Listen, I don't care about what you think. Keep in mind I'm only using you as my bride because of your stupid lovers' mark, okay? In the end, as soon as Zenaku's games are over, you'll mean nothing to me." Leon snapped.
Sharlene could only look at him in shock and remember the kindness he's showed her. How he saved her after hurting her, how he listened to her song, how he let her accompany him.
"I... I don't understand." Sharlene wept. "T-Then, why did you help me? Why did you heal me? Why did your heart accept my mark? Why did you listen to my song that no one listens?"
Leon looked at her amused. Sharlene was crying pearls. But what shocked him most was the look on her face and the glowing marks on their skins.
"I'm a weak siren. No one ever listens to the songs I sing. I was always disregarded as a failure, despite being the child of the king. So why? Why did you listen?" She continued to cry and started choking on her words.
Then, Leon had the urge to comfort her, hug her, apologize. Do all these things that human males would do if they ever make a woman cry. He was confused. Could his heart be making him feel like this?
He got off the railings and proceeded to walk to Sharlene, who was still in tears. Leon didn't know what to do anymore. He suddenly remembered his mother's words to him before she passed.
"If you ever make a girl cry, I'll never forgive you!"
Leon placed Sharlene's head on his chest and brushed her hair. The warm wind comforted the siren, and her sobs slowly died down.
"Sharlene," Leon softly spoke. "I'm sorry."
The siren looked at him in shock. At first, he was mean to her and now, he was showing kindness? She couldn't understand what kind of person he was.
"Your song... was comforting. It made me remember my mother and my sister. It brought out my human emotions... and because of that, I thank you. I'm sorry I was mean to you, please forgive me."
Sharlene looked at him in the eyes. Her siren eyes saw guilt hidden behind those violet eyes of his. He genuinely felt sorry.
Sharlene smiled, "I really don't understand you, Leon. I know it's too early to say things like this, but..."
She removed herself from Leon's grasp and sent a soft smile at him.
"I love you."

Unlike the others, Aichi was getting along with his chosen bride pretty well. He found out that he and Princess Kourin had a lot in common. They both liked reading, sparring, and they were passionate.
In truth, Aichi has known Kourin for a long time. They were in fact lovers, however, they had to keep the secret to themselves for a long time. Aichi loved Kourin with all his heart, the same went for Kourin.
"Aichi," Kourin croaked, snuggling closer to the man she loved, "Tell me something."
"What is it?" Aichi inhaled, taking a whiff of her mango-scented hair. They were both snuggled in layers of the duvet they shared as they cuddled with each other.
"Why did you choose me? Of all races, human?" Kourin looked at him in the eyes, and they remained eye contact for quite some time.
"Well, that's simple." Aichi smiled, putting a strand of her golden locks behind her ear.
"Zebaku wanted a strong woman, and you are the most suitable woman for that. You also have a special power, healing. Zenaku also wanted that. But if you take into consideration what I want, that's you."
Kourin blushed as Aichi planted a soft kiss on her cheek.
"You're right, I have a lot of races to choose from. But I chose you because I fell for you, and I will never stop falling for you." Aichi smiled. "Is that a good enough answer for you?"
Kourin grinned before planting a soft kiss on Aichi's lips, "More than enough."
