Chapter 25

Recently Christian has been doing more than selling drugs and I'm tryna act like it doesn't bother me, but it is. I'm walking home from school and its dark because of daylight saving. I'm two streets away from my house when I hear shouting. Then I see a group of boys and a girls cry ¨please don't jump him¨.  Oh shit I think to myself now I really gotta get home. I look and see Christians and his gang (the saints) about to fight someone from a rival gang tHe WeSt SiDe rOlLeRs. This shit is so fucking stupid. Chris kicks the boy in the head. I stare at him shocked. I am upset that he did that but I will address that later.

Hours later Christian calls me. ¨I'm sorry you had to see that¨ he says. ¨Whatever I roll my eyes ¨I'm mad at you¨. ¨I had too do it¨ he sucks his teeth ¨they are a threat¨. ¨Oof¨ I lay back down on my bed. ¨Come outside¨ Chris says before hanging up. I walk outside and Chris has Tony's car. ¨Late night joyride¨ he smiles. I smirk and throw on my jacket as I jog down the stairs. I get in the car and we driver around. I look at my phone it's 2am and my phone is on 30%. ¨You got a charger¨ I ask. ¨Yea¨ Christian passes it to me. We listen to music for a while but then we start to get hungry. Unfortunately no 24 hour corner stores were open.

The glass of the convenience store shatters. The cameras in the stores are already broken, they have been for years. We turn the lights on and rack up on goodies.  We aren't thinking we are just having fun and the rush I am feeling is amazing.  Someone heard the glass break and now we are running and ducking sirens. The sirens are close, we jump in the car laughing. ¨Go go go¨ I shout at Chris as I buckle my seatbelt. We get away and laugh. 20 minutes later we are still driving. ¨Where are we going¨ I ask. ¨You'll see¨ he chuckles. I side eye him. I ended up falling asleep during the car ride but wake up when  the car comes to a sudden stop. We get out the car which is parked on a hill. 

¨Makeout Hill¨.  Where our lips first locked and I've been hooked ever since. Distracted by the beautiful stars I didn't realize Christian was laying a blanket on the grass and placing our snacks on the blanket.  We lay down and gaze at the stars. Christian is laying on top of me and I am playing in his hair. ¨Eventually this fast life is going to catch up to me¨ Chris starts ¨and you worry a lot. My days could be numbered I could get arrested or sum so I need you to take this¨. Ḧe hands me a wad of cash.  ¨Why¨ I raise my eyebrows ¨What's this for¨. ¨To bail me out and take care of my family if anything happens¨ he says.  ¨I'm just saying there is  a lot going on stuff you don't know about¨. I begin to interrupt but I decide not to. ¨I need you to hold it down and not nag me all the time, everything is fine okay¨. I have so many questions my mind is swirling but I don't know what to say. ¨I'm sorry ¨ I say ¨I didn't mean to rev up any pressure I just want to relieve your stress¨. He smiles and looks down at his pants. ¨You're dirty¨ I side eye him.  We laugh eat and stare at the stars. He holds me and it feels like its us against the world. So this is what love truly feels like huh?
