Friday came and the date she'd been dreading for a week went fine, in fact, it was pretty much perfect. He took her to a pottery place where they tried and failed to make bowls and she'd actually had fun. Then as they were leaving he kissed her. She was hesitant to kiss him back but she knew she had too. She knew she wasn't crazy. She kissed him back and she felt the horrible falling sensation again. She pulled away as quickly as she could without raising his suspicions.
"Listen I think we should slow down, no kissing, just dating."
"Why? Did I do something wrong?"
"No it's just, I don't want to rush into anything, I don't wanna go too fast, I wanna make sure this is right before I give you my entire heart." She lied
"I always respect the wishes of my lady." He said bowing to her. "If you wanna slow it down then we can do that for as long as you need."
"Thank you. I think I'm gonna go home now."
"Want me to walk you?"
"No that's alright, I'm gonna meet the guys at Taki's anyway."
"I could come with you?" he asked, hopefully. Clary sighed.
"Alright, yeah sure." She was uncertain about him but the only thing wrong was when they kissed, other than that he really was the perfect 'boyfriend'.
They went to Taki's to meet Jace, Izzy and Alec.
*****
"Hey guys,"
"Hey." They Replied in unison.
Jace looked up and saw Sebastian standing there, with Clary, his Clary.
He hated him for going out with Clary. He couldn't even stand the sight of him. He felt there was more to Sebastian than he was letting on and he recognised his face but couldn't pinpoint from where. He had definitely never seen him at any of the conclave meetings. He watched him as Sebastian put his arm around Clary and whispered something in her ear making her laugh. It made Jace's blood boil, he should be the one making her laugh and putting his arm around her, not Sebastian. He got up to order and asked everyone what they wanted. Clary ordered coconut pancakes, Izzy ordered a strawberry smoothie and the spaghetti and Alec a BBQ bacon cheese burger with onion rings. Jace began to walk away when Clary cleared her throat,
"Aren't you forgetting someone?"
"Nope," he said sweetly and carried on walking.
"Jace," she warned.
He turned back around, "Sebastian." He said coldly.
"I'll just have a hot fudge brownie."
Jace rolled his eyes and walked to the counter to order.

Clary watched him walk over to the counter and order their food. She didn't like chiding him but it was kind of her job to stick up for and back Sebastian now.
Kaelie, a fairy waitress, walked over to Jace and started flirting with him. She kissed his cheek and was feeling his biceps. Then she kissed him on the mouth and flew away giggling.
Jace walked back to the table with a smug grin. Clary rolled her eyes.
"I'm gonna go use the restroom," Said Sebastian and kissed Clary on the cheek.
Clary watched him go as Jace slid into the booth next to her. She felt uncomfortable with Sebastian kissing her cheek but that wasn't that what couples did. She sighed as Kaelie came over to the table and beckoned Jace. He jumped up and followed her.
Clary couldn't believe her. She hated Kaelie with a passion. She always flirted with Jace and it made Clary want so smack her. She warmed herself that she wasn't allowed to care about that anymore. She was with Sebastian and not Jace, therefore anyone can flirt with him. Sebastian came back and shortly after so did Jace with lipstick marks all over his cheek and his hair was messed.
Kaelie came back for the third time with the food. Jace winked at her and she giggled and left.
After that, Jace's mood seemed to deflate.
"So Jace, what do you do?"
"What do you mean, what do I do? I'm a shadowhunter, I hunt and kill Demons! I don't have time for silly little hobbies or studying or anything irrelevant like that."
"Clearly." Said Sebastian under his breath, loud enough for everyone to hear. Clary moved away from him slightly. He glanced at her but pretended not to notice.
"I'm done, I'm going home." Huffed Jace.
"We are too, we'll come with you." Said Izzy and the three of them left together. Clary watched them leave and as soon as they were out of the restaurant she turned on Sebastian.
"Why did you say that?"
"Say what?"
"'Clearly'"
"Well clearly he doesn't have time to study ergo isn't very bright."
Clary scoffed.
"Jace is the best shadowhunter I know and for your information he plays the piano, it doesn't get more academic than that! Oh but you wouldn't know that, because you haven't even bothered to learn about my family and the people I live with. In fact you probably don't even know my best friends name.
I except Jace to act like that but not you. Izzy already warned you about Jace and so did I so you should have been the bigger person. Jace is sarcastic and a dick sometimes but you don't get to talk to him like that and you most certainly do not get to say things about him like that! Not ever and especially not to me!"
"Why are you defending him?!"
"Because he's worth defending! I've practically known him my own life and I-" She stopped herself before she said something she'd regret. She took a deep breath and looked away. When she turned back to him he looked upset that she was defending him but she didn't care.
"Sorry, you're right, I shouldn't have said that. I'll walk you home." He said eventually.
"No it's fine I'll go alone. I can take care of myself."
"Please, let me walk you home." She nodded slowly as her anger subsided.
He walked her home in silence. He tried to speak to her but she ignored him so eventually he stopped trying.
She bid him good night on the doorstep and without looking at him went straight inside.
