Vance was sitting in the last class of the day, glancing at Lyric who was in the row behind him. He couldn't stop thinking about how Lyric had stormed off earlier. ~Was it something I said?~ He wondered to himself. Vance wondered why Lyric had reacted so bitterly towards him. He only offered to help him. ~Maybe he's shy...~ Vance sighed.

"Mr. Intukai, I don't think that I need to remind you that you're supposed to be taking a test," Mr. Kirochi, the Social Studies teacher, told him.

Vance looked back down at the paper. It was hardly even halfway filled out. He tapped his pencil on his desk, sighing. "No, sir. You don't," Vance said. Then he whispered so only the other students could hear him. "Your voice is annoying enough without you having to remind people of things."

The students around him laughed as if it were the funniest thing. Though, Vance often did try to be the class clown. Vance smirked at his own wit.

Lyric, however, was unamused as he rolled his eyes. He'd finished his test before anyone and had already turned it in. The teacher insisted that because he was a transfer student, he wouldn't have to participate in the quiz, but Lyric said that he wanted to. He knew everything about The Roman Empire, so the test proved to be easy for him.

Vance was trying his best to finish before the bell rang, but he often kept glancing over at Lyric, or reading the same sentence over and over in order to comprehend what he'd just read. He sighed, continuing to tap his pencil. ~I've only got five more minutes to finish the test... But this is impossible. I've still got a whole other page. Damn it...~ He scowled at the paper.

Lyric, who was sitting in the row behind him, watched him. "Making faces at your paper won't get it finished, you know?" He had his arms crossed, his eyes narrowed at Vance.

Vance gasped lightly in surprise, snapping his head to Lyric. "Wh-What?"

Lyric sighed, putting his crossed arms on the desk and leaning over them. "Should I repeat what I said? Maybe in smaller words that you'll understand?" He said.

Vance scoffed. "What'd you say, nerd?" He glared at him.

Lyric rolled his eyes. "How original," He said sarcastically.

"Look, nerd, unless you need something, go stick your head back in your books," Vance turned back to his test.

Lyric slumped back in his seat. ~Whatever. Just trying to help.~ He thought. Though, he wasn't exactly trying to help. He just wanted to talk to Vance again. Even if he wouldn't admit it to himself.

The bell rang loudly, signaling the end of class and Lyric stood. He was ready to go home. Vance also stood, the incomplete test in his hand. He walked to Mr. Kirochi's desk and handed him the paper.

"Vance, it's not finished," He said to Vance.

"I know, sir," Vance shrugged.

Mr. Kirochi sighed and looked up, seeing Lyric about to leave. "Ah, Mr. Kadoya!" He called.

Lyric stopped walking, "Sir?"

"Could you come here?" He asked.

Lyric walked over. "Yeah..?"

"I need you to tutor Mr. Intukai!" Mr. Kirochi said, looking between Vance and Lyric.

Vance frowned, looking at Lyric. Even though he was a nerd, emo, freak, whatever- Vance couldn't help but feel somewhat drawn to Lyric.

"Um... I-I don't know, sir..." Lyric bit his lip, shifting his weight between his feet.

"Come on," Mr. Kirochi sighed. "Vance is failing Social Studies and he needs a C- or higher in order to continue to play football."
