Friday had come sooner than expected. Everyone had been pumped for the game tonight, hoping they'd win against Geosenge town.
Lyric was sitting in last period, his eyes trained on the textbook in front of him. Vance sat in front of him, his elbow on the desk and his chin in his palm. Vance stared absentmindedly at the clock which was ticking quietly. There was still thirty minutes left of class and Mr. Kirochi was talking about the Aztec Empire.
~...the extinct language of this people, a Uto-Aztecan language from which modern Nahuatl is descended...~ Lyric was reading in his head.
Ryu was sitting in front if Vance, throwing paper airplanes at a girl in the front. She seemed to be annoyed by it as she turned around and glared at him. Ryu only smirked and winked at her.
Gintoki was on his phone, watching a video about sports. A few other players were casually watching his phone, too.
Vance turned around to look at Lyric. "Psst..." He whispered.
Lyric looked up from the textbook. "What?" He whispered back.
"Are you still coming to the game tonight?" Vance asked.
Vance had invited Lyric yesterday. Lyric had wanted to say no, but Haruka was going and she wanted Lyric to be there because she was going to talk to Takayuki. Lyric had agreed, of course. He had been the one to push Haruka into talking with him. "Yeah..." Lyric nodded. "I said I would, didn't I?"
Vance gave a light smirk. "Yes, you did. Just making sure you weren't backing out," Vance said.
Lyric shrugged. "If someone promises something then they should keep their promise," He said.
Vance grinned. "Wise words," He said.
Ryu turned around in his seat and looked at Lyric and Vance. "Hey, guys," He said.
Lyric looked at Ryu and frowned. "Kagome," Lyric greeted him with a curt nod.
"Ryu, what do you want?" Vance asked.
Ryu smirked. "I just wanted to say hi to our good friend, Lyric," He looked at Lyric.
Lyric raised a brow. "We're friends, are we? I don't seem to recall accepting your request," He said cooly, giving Ryu a calm look.
Ryu gritted his teeth. "Huh... You don't say?" He said.
Vance watched the two of them, his hands nervously wringing together. ~This isn't good...~
Lyric shrugged. "But I guess it just goes to show that people with lower IQ may not remember details like that," He said nonchalantly.
Ryu's eye twitched, his hand clenching the top of his chair. "Funny. Because I seem to remember when you didn't have much to say," He said.
Lyric shrugged again, "I don't," He said. Then he smiled sardonically, "I didn't realize I had to have your permission to talk. My apologies," He said sarcastically.
"Hey, look, we're all adults here," Vance cut in. "We can work this out."
"We've nothing to work out. Unless Ryu feels that we do?" Lyric looked over at Ryu.
Ryu shrugged. "No. We're totally cool," He said.
"Almost like... Ice..." A smirk curved on Lyric's lips.
Ryu matched Lyric's smirk with one of his own. "Yeah. Ice," He said.
Vance could feel the tension between the two. It was strong. "Okay, maybe we should just-"
"Boys!" Mr. Kirochi snapped. "Pay attention!" And he rolled his eyes, going back to his teaching.
Lyric looked back down at his book, glaring hotly at the words. ~Of course, Mr. Kagome would feel indifferent towards me. It's only natural considering he's an idiot.~ Lyric reasoned within his mind.
