Vance walked into school Friday morning and started for his locker. He frowned when everyone looked at him and then murmured to each other. ~Wonder what that's all about...~

"Vance!" Ryu ran over to him. "Have you heard?" Ryu asked. He looked angry and frustrated.

"No...what is it?" Vance opened his locker and set his stuff inside.

"Lyric gave our playbook to his old school," Ryu growled.

Vance whipped around to look at him. "What? No way," He said. He didn't believe it.

"Yeah, he did." Ryu huffed.

"How do you know?" Vance shut his locker, looking at Ryu.

"It's all over the school. Literally," Ryu gestured to a picture on the wall.

Vance walked over to it and pulled it off the wall. "No..." He mumbled. It was a picture of Lyric handing a book over to Li Tendo. "This must be a mistake."

"Open your eyes!" Ryu pointed at the picture. "It's clear that Lyric wasn't your friend after all."

There was a commotion behind them and Vance turned to see Lyric walk down the hallway, head down. Vance walked over to him. "Lyric," He said. "What have you done?"

Lyric looked confused. "Sorry?" Vance noticed the red rims around Lyric's eyes. Almost as if he'd been...crying?

"Don't act like you don't know!" Ryu growled.

Lyric furrowed his eyebrows. "But I-"

"This," Vance handed him the paper. "Tell me it's not true. That it's a misunderstanding," Vance whispered.

Lyric looked at the paper a moment before he turned pale. "I..."

"Well? Tell me," Vance bit his lip.

"I...can't." Lyric wrung his hands together nervously. "Th-There is no misunderstanding."

Vance's eyes widened. "What??!!"

Lyric flinched. "I'm sorry... I had to... he would have-"

"Shut up!" Ryu snarled. "I knew not to trust you!"

"No, i-it's not like that!" Lyric shook his head quickly.

"I...trusted you," Vance glared. "And you just...!"

Lyric bit his lip. "No, Vance! Just let me explain-!" He reached out to Vance.

Vance backed away. "Don't. Just stay away from me. I can't even look at you right now." Vance turned and walked away.

Tears sprung to Lyric's eyes for the tenth time. He'd cried himself to sleep last night and he'd only gotten three hours of rest. "Vance!" Lyric called. "Please! I-"

"Just stop! You've already done enough!" Ryu shoved Lyric backwards.

Lyric fell onto his butt and he whimpered, looking down at his hand. He'd scraped it on a loose piece of tile and it had started to bleed again. He watched as everyone left as the bell rang. Staggering to his feet, tears fell from his eyes and he balanced himself against the wall.

"Lyric," It was Haruka. "You've messed up."

Lyric looked at her. "But I can explain!"

"There's nothing to explain!" She looked disappointed, maybe even sad, too. "I thought you were cool. But..." She sighed. "Whatever. I'll see you around."

Lyric watched her leave, heart breaking into pieces. ~This is exactly why I shouldn't get close to anyone! If I had just never said anything, maybe they would have given up and I wouldn't have had to do this...~ He sniffed and turned, walking towards the library. He opened the door and trudged to the back of the room, sitting down beside a bookshelf. He set his bag in front of him and pulled his knees to his chest, burying his head in his knees and crying quietly. Right now, he felt as if he were alone. No one else was in the library, in fact, no one even came in here anymore. Which was perfect for him, so he could be by himself. Just how it should have been. Before Haruka. Before Vance. Just himself. Alone...
