As Vance pulled up to his house, the porch light turned on and Vance sighed. ~Mom must have been up waiting for me.~

Lyric sat up in the back seat. "Are we here?" He asked, coughing.

"Yeah." Vance nodded. He opened his door and then got out, shutting the door. He then opened Lyric's door and pulled him out, shutting the door.

Lyric still had a few tears on his face. He never knew why he was so emotional when he was sick. He always assumed that he took after his mother. He wiped his eyes. "I'm s-sorry that I almost got sick in your car," He apologized again, sniffing.

Vance picked him up. "It's okay, Lyric." He whispered softly, walking up to the front door. He quietly opened the door and stepped inside, shutting it behind him.

"Vance?" Hikaru, his mother, stood from the couch. "Is that Lyric?" She asked.

Lyric sneezed. Vance nodded. "He's sick and his parents left this morning. Can he stay here?"

Hikaru nodded. "Of course. I'll get some tea." She walked by and lightly squeezed Lyric's hand.

Vance sat down on the couch with Lyric in his lap. "Here," He unwrapped the scarf from Lyric's neck, removing the football jacket and Lyric's black jacket. He set them on the floor beside the couch. "It'll get hot if you leave those on."

Lyric nodded and awkwardly shifted. "Y-You don't have to sit here with me..."

"I want to," Vance kissed his temple.

"Why?" Lyric looked at him innocently like a kid.

"Because I do." Vance wiped the wetness from his cheeks.

"Because why?" Lyric asked like a kid who couldn't understand why it was bad to jump on the bed.

"Because I want to take care of you," Vance said.

"Why?" Lyric repeated.

"Oh, look, there's mom with the tea," He sighed in relief.

Hikaru handed Vance the cup. "Here. It's hot." She smiled softly and sat on the chair next to the couch.

Vance nodded and blew on it. "Here, drink some," He held it to Lyric's lips.

Lyric took a few sips. "Thank you, Mrs. Intukai..." He said softly, sneezing.

"You're welcome. And please, for the hundredth time, just call me Hikaru," She smiled.

Lyric nodded, "Right..." He coughed again and he curled up in Vance's arms. His head rested on Vance's chest. "I'm tired..." He said, suppressing a sneeze.

"Then sleep, Lyric. Don't worry. I'll be here when you wake up," Vance smiled.

Lyric cuddled closer to him and closed his eyes. Within a few minutes, Lyric was sound asleep.

"Vance," Hikaru said softly. "What are you doing?"

"What do you mean?" Vance frowned.

"Have you figured out your feelings, yet? Because you can't keep doing this. You'll hurt him if you do this," She motioned to the two if them sitting together. "And then you decide you don't want it after all."

Vance bit his lip. "I know." He sighed. "It's just hard... What if he doesn't like me that way? Then what? It would ruin our friendship." He bit his lip.

Hikaru sighed and came over to him. She took his hand. "But you'll always have a family that loves you. Isn't that what's most important?"

Vance gave a light smile. "Thanks, mom."
