I pulled my head back and stared at him in shock. I was at a loss of words. I know that I've had a crush on him and I should have been happy, but this was just weird. Aspen sighed and rubbed his hand over his face. He looked way older and so worn out.

"Look Ry, I shouldn't have done that. I was just tired of waiting for the right moment when the right moment always seemed to disappear. I love you. I have since the day you helped me when I was beaten and bleeding. I don't know if it was because you felt you had to or you were just crazy enough to bring a stranger to your house."

"Aspe-"

"Just listen. Either way you took care of me and never left me even after I was better. Over the past 2 years you've just gotten better and better as I've gotten to know you and it kills me what they do to you at that school. You're beautiful and I just wanted to tell you my feelings."

I didn't know what to say. His eyes shone with sincerity and adoration. He loved me. I don't know if what I feel for him is definitely love but I know I feel strongly towards him. I looked back up at him and said him nervously expecting a reply. And here I thought Aspen had grown all tough and badass.

"Aspen I don't think I love you."

His face immediately fell and he began to stand up. I quickly pulled him back and continued talking.

"What I was saying was that I don't think I love you, but I know that I've had a crush on you for the past year."

He instantly grinned and pulled me a smidge closer.

"So what you're really saying is that you think I'm the sexiest man alive and want to be my girlfriend?"

I could hold back my laughter. Leave it to Aspen to ruin a completely cheesy moment. I pretended to think about it and put on a straight face.

"Well I don't know about the sexiest man, but I guess you'll do."

I shot him a cheeky smile as he leaned in to peck me on the lips. Sweet and gentle. We started a movie and snuggled, forgetting about all the serious bullshit. For now we were embracing the moment. The cheesy and incredibly cliché moment. I was dating my best friend, and one thing was for certain. Something was bound to ruin it.
