Chapter 11: A New Surprise

It's finally Friday! You know I have mixed feelings about Fridays. I'm happy that it's the end of the week yet I'm not because I still have to go to school.

Speaking of school, I woke up 20 minutes late this morning and had to rush to make it on time for the first period bell. I made it just in time before the teacher closed the door. Science is probably one of my better subjects.

The class passed by slowly as we learned something to do with the organ systems of the body. I honestly like biology but today I just could not seem to focus. I'm too busy thinking about getting out of this solo. All week Anna has been threatening me about telling everyone my 'secret'. Alyssa has also seemed to have stuck her self onto Anna and Mandy. She's basically clinging onto their popularity.

I sighed as the bell rang and made my way to the music room. I took my usual seat in the back corner and looked around at the unappealing mustard color walls. They really need to fix up this place, but sadly all the focus goes to sports.

I was snapped from my thoughts when Mr. Jay came through the door with a girl I had never seen before following behind him. She was tall with light brown hair and chocolate colored eyes. She was on the skinnier side and was wearing a Nirvana T-shirt.

"Alright guys listen up! We have a new student. Her name is Nicole and I want you all to make her feel welcome. It's hard to transfer so late into the semester."

With that he told her she could sit anywhere she'd like. Realizing that the only empty spot was the one beside me she made her way over and smiled. I smiled politely back and looked away. She'll soon be just like everyone else. Just then Alyssa turns around and loudly speaks to her so I could hear.

"Ew why are you sitting with her?! You should come and move your chair beside me so you don't have to be seen with the emo girl."

I clenched my fist waiting for the new girl to get up as fast as possible to move away when I was startled by her laughter. Why was she laughing?!

"Yeah thanks but no thanks. If I wanted to sit near you I would have."

I was shocked. Not because she had some major sarcasm going on (which I liked) but because she chose to sit beside me. Alyssa turned around quickly while blushing and I almost laughed.

I was confused when Mr. Jay came back through the door and told us to work on the theory from yesterday. When did he even leave? I looked over as the new girl Nicole tapped my shoulder.

"Hey my names Nicole but you can call me Nikki. I like your shirt, All Time Low is one of my favorite bands!"

I smiled, finally! Someone with a good taste in music.

"Thanks! And I like yours! I'm Ryder but you can just call my Ry if you'd like."

"Cool name dude! Can I ask you why that bitch was so mean to you?"

I sighed but nodded. Might as well get it over with now.

"No body likes me here. Nobody. And to be honest what she said was nice compared to half the shit others call me. They don't even call me by my name anymore."

She looked shocked. I don't see why though.

"What do they call you?"

"Lots of shit. But mostly people just refer to me as 'Emo girl'."

She was quiet for a few moments and I was sure that she was going to move. But it was actually the opposite.

"That's the stupidest shit I've ever heard! I thought the school said they pride themselves on being a 'safe environment'? Safe my ass!"

I laughed at her response fully agreeing with her. And I've been going here since the beginning. But what really shocked me was what happened next.

"Well Ryder your wait is over because I am going to be your friend! You seem like the only person I can actually tolerate around here anyways. All these bitches need to get out, staring at me like no!"

I chuckled to myself but the frowned. She seemed like a really cool chick but I don't want her to get bullied because of me.

"Nikki you don't have to. You're going to get bullied if people see you with me and I don't want you to go through the same shit I do."

She looked at me like I was crazy.

"I don't give a flying fuck what these hoes think! We are going to be great friends! They can just go fuck themselves."

I smiled. No one has ever been nice to me besides Aspen. But in comes this girl and already she understands me as though we've known each other for years. Right then I knew that she would become my best friend.
