The rest of the day passed by like it normally does, people calling me names and shoving me a couple times. They never stop. Now it was the end of the day and I was going to tell Mr. Jay that I couldn't do the solo.

On my way there I still couldn't figure out exactly what secret Anna knew about. Was it that my dad was in jail? No, lots of people knew about that. My cutting? She told everyone that already. So what could it be?

Realization hit me like a ton of bricks. The only secret that she could know about that matters is Aspen. He's technically not supposed to be in a relationship with me since I'm not 18 yet. I sighed and shook my head, I knew someone was watching me. She must have been spying on me those days she wasn't at school.

I was broken from my thoughts as I saw Mr. Jay closing the music room door. I quickly went up to him before he could leave.

"Hey um, Mr. Jay I just wanted you to know that I can't do the solo for the harmony concert."

"Oh, why not? You have a really great voice and it would sound amazing with the arrangements I'm working on."

"I just don't feel comfortable singing in front of everyone, and besides Alyssa should do it. She really wanted to."

She wanted it so much that she went to my biggest bully to get it, I thought. Mr. Jay looked at me like I'd lost my mind.

"Have you heard Alyssa sing? Now I'm a strong believer in everyone improves over time but let's be real, who has that much time? I don't know if you truly just don't feel comfortable or its another reason but I am not changing the line up."

I slightly panicked, can he do that?! He can't force me to do that can he?

"Mr. Jay please just change it so that Alyssa can do it, I'm sure that she can be good for the performance."

"We both know that's not true. Is someone making you do this Ryder? You can tell me."

Like fucking hell I can tell you! Just change the freakin line up! I shook my head before answering.

"No, I just really don't want to do it. Please don't make me sing."

He sighed and looked at his phone.

"Look I have to go and I'm sure you do too. We'll talk about this another time but for now go home."

With that he nodded a good bye and left the building. Rude! I'll remember to put this on the list of times Mr. Jay pisses me off. Sighing I also turned around and made my way out of the building and began my walk home.

As soon as I walked in the door I was immediately ambushed by the sweet smell of my mother's homemade cookies. I went to the kitchen and saw her pulling the tray of cookies out of the oven.

"Hello dear, how was your day at school? Want a cookie?"

I took a cookie and sat down at the table.

"It was fine."

"You always say that. Where's Aspen today?"

"He's at work until 5:00pm"

"Well are you going to his house again tonight?"

"Nope, I'm all yours tonight."

Her face brightened up and she smiled as she went back to putting cookies in a container. I felt bad for spending so much time with Aspen and not her.  I finished my cookie and went upstairs to do my homework, promising to be down later.

Today has been too stressful and I can't wait for it to be over.
