CHAPTER 30: Protect My Sister

COLT

It's been a couple of weeks since I have marked Aurora and I must say that she is going to be a bad ass Luna.

I'm glad that she has Zane as a mate and that she has taken this whole werewolf thing as well as she has been.

She is catching on quickly and as we start wrapping up some training, I sit down with her as she tries catching her breath and after she has changed already in clothes and was now taking a drink from her water bottle, I took this time to talk with her.

"I almost kicked your ass." She teases me while playfully punching my arm.

"Yeah yeah. Don't get too cocky." I laugh.

"What's wrong?" She asks.

"It's nothing really. It's just that I wanted to say I was sorry." I began.

"For what?" She asks.

"As an older brother I was supposed to protect you and I didn't. I wasn't there when I should have been and I was stupid to ever get involved with Denton. I just never was as smart as you and thought there was nothing else I could do to earn a living." I explain.

"So you became a werewolf?" She smiles trying to lighten me up.

"No." I reply before sticking out my tongue at her and then continuing.

"So when did you become one?" She asks me.

I take in a deep breath and let it out before explaining.

"It was after working for Denton for a year. Some of the jobs he was having me do were becoming more dangerous each time and I started getting suspicious. So one night, I decided I was gonna quit his gang for good. Except when I went into his office to tell him, that's when I saw a werewolf." I stop myself as I start remembering that night and seeing that creature.

"He was crouched over someone and had ripped out their heart and tilted his head back as he started to eat a female's heart who was laying on the floor in front of him. I tried to turn around as I wasn't sure in what I was seeing when I see him snap his head towards me and as I try turning around to leave, a couple of his men held me down and let that fucker bite me." I tell her as I start choking up a little bit from the horror I felt that night.

"Oh my god." I hear her say under her breath.

"Yeah well, that's why I couldn't see you for so long. I had become a monster that night and was afraid that I would hurt you. Because I still hadn't known how everything worked and still was in disbelief that that was what I was. I mean shit like that happens in books and movies, right?" I stop and wipe the tears from my eyes.

"Then I met Jezebel. She taught me so much and right away I knew that she was my mate. Even though we never told her cousin, Zane." I finish.

We are both silent for a few moments.

"Did you know her and I were friends?" I ask.

"Yes. In fact I asked her to find you and to keep an eye on you. I never thought Denton would come after you to claim that you had to pay off a debt when that was never true. He only wanted to get to you. So as soon as Jezebel told me you were here and what all was going on, I knew I had to come." I explain to her.

We share another few moments of silence until she starts to talk again.

"Well I'm glad you came back." She smiles at me as she takes hold of my hand.

I look at her and smile back at her and we both begin to hug each other.

Things seemed to be better now and the air seemed clearer for us. Though that didn't last very long.

"Look what we have here. How cute and sweet." We both hear Sheri's voice from behind Aurora.

Aurora begins to growl a little bit. I then have her look into my eyes.

"Aurora, don't do anything stupid." I tell her.

We both stand up side by side and look at Sheri, then notice Denton and a few others of his men, walk up from behind.

Denton walks up beside Sheri and kisses her cheek.

"Good job sweetie." He coos at her.

"How did you get on Zane's property?" I ask him while having Aurora stand behind me.

"It was easy. It's called manipulating the mind with just a little magic." He smirks.

I look at Sheri and then back at him.

"You fucking bitch." I hear Aurora say.

"My my. Somebody has gotten brave haven't they?" Sheri remarks at Aurora.

"Now now." Denton begins to say. "Let's get what we came for and leave. I have things to do." He says as he then begins eyeing Aurora up and down with tongue-to-cheek.

"You're not fucking taking her." I tell him through clenched teeth.

"I knew you'd say that." He grins.

Then suddenly a few others from his pack come out and are in their wolf forms who start to surround Aurora and I as they snarl, growl and wait to attack.

I can tell Aurora is scared but she has always been good at hiding it. Like she is now.

"Don't." I warn him.

We're about to be ripped to pieces and it's all my fault. We never should have come here to the training field and stayed this long. Now that he has killed several of Zane's guys, we are out numbered her and I.

"Alpha Zane! You need to come quick to the training field. Denton has killed several of your guys and is about to slaughter me and Aurora. I need you to take my sister. QUICK!" I mind link Zane.

"FUCK! WE'RE ON OUR WAY!" He growls.

I quickly next throw Aurora far up out of the way just in time as his men leaped towards me and I immediately shifted into my werewolf and this was my chance to finally protect my sister.
