1. Canary
Y/n faced the shady door she stopped by hidden in the dark alleyway of downtown, geared with her guitar slung to her back, she crumpled the handle as she stood. The light on it already running out blinking every now and then, sounding more electrified as her ears adjusted to what's ahead of her.
Sighing from the red painted rundown door, color almost stripping off the coat while she touched the knob already feeling the rough texture of early rusting although she didn't mind and twisted it open.
Upon the door screeching open creepily, she was welcomed by stiff steps down, about fifteen steps before reaching hell and she could hear the faint noise coming inside the vicinity. Her steps thumping on the wooden floor until the noise indistinctively cleared from random voices and fair enough, the view that welcomed her in the bar were numbers of men drinking while she casually smiled. Not threatened by the drunkards around her, she wandered her head around in search of the blond boss, Ash, finding a speck of yellow hair she recognized overlapping on the view of another brunette sitting by the stool in front of the bartender who was wiping his cleaned glass, she made her way there not hiding the innocent smile on her lips until she was on her friend's back to actually pound him with a warm hug.
The target—Ash put simply—knew this was coming, already used to her presence behind him that he doesn't like others doing so. Simply letting it since he's already gotten used to the part where she would give a bear hug with her small features behind him with a guitar slung on her back.
"Hello, kitty!" She greeted usually for first unique impressions cuddling the worn out man on her arms. Ash doesn't like the nickname, but he didn't mind since she only calls him that way for greetings and then addressing him Ash thereafter.
"Yeah. Get off me, cotton candy." The blond replied back amused. She obeyed and he slide his ass on the chair looking back to face the smiling girl. "So, what business do you have today, princess?" He asked.
"Nothing. Just came to pass." She replied happily.
Ash raised an eyebrow. "You do know that you're in a gangster lair. Don't come in so casual as if you're a member." He scolded, voice soft not to make her upset from her break in.
And it worked. Not offended, she laughed. "Ehhh? But I am your precious member!" She replied in certainty. "Right Barty!" She winked at the bartender who smirk back and gave her a thumbs up. "But Boss decides that, so you're not official."
"You know you should go straight home at night, correct?" Ash interlude seriously.
"Awww, you want me to leave already when I just got my ass here, warming this little chair?" She pouted looking at Alex, the brunette beside him, with complaining eyes. The male shrugged as he awkwardly sighed. "Cool me down, I just taught twenty brats on making an ear piercing guitar lessons." And now she looked at Ash warily.
The blond teen sighed rather defeated as he raised both his hands with a smile. "Fine, fine. But that's still dangerous. Look what time it is," he pointed over the wall clock just on top of the upper part of the stairs on the doorway. It was past eight thirty from where the arrows had pointed to. "A cotton candy you are. You'll be swooped by some ruffians in no time."
"Well, I hang out with ruffians as well, no?" She jokingly implied with her accent. "And cotton candy is a bit exaggerated."
"That just suit you. Full of airs but sweet."
"Awww. Now that's offensive." She put her guitar down and opened its cover, taking out the acoustic string instrument as she sat on the table across the stools where he sat. Ash watched him does her handiwork until she rose her head up and smiled. "And I came to sing a song for my ruffian friends too!"
She began plucking into the strings pressing on the necessary notes. Her hands genuinely touching the lines as if it was as easy as they actually sounded. Nostalgic tunes coming out within the low pitching while the room silenced to listen to the relaxing stroke it offered. Soon after, she sang with a sweet pretty voice swaying her head from left to right showing clearly how she enjoyed what she was doing. Funny enough, she was more than confident at showing it off to thugs than normal people, probably because their boss was none other than her childhood friend Ash who everyone fears. Although it may have been one of the reasons why she's more comfortable in that box, other reasons are because people like them are easier to interact with than others in Dino's league.
Her first piano performance almost showed her quite a lot of spotlight in Dino's dinner party, but the part she hated was rather their focus was to her body, not to her talent. Annoying enough, it scarred her ego and caused her to have stage frights during performances with high class people watching. Slowly she strokes that last rhythm in one down strum, letting the final sound faintly disappear in her guitar before she stood up and bowed as if performing on a stage.
Everyone applaud making her genuinely happy. She turned to Ash, smiling back at him with a light stare from his emerald orbs. Putting her guitar on the table carefully, she looked at the blond boss, putting her palms together with a look of anticipation. "So, buy me ice cream!" she said in demand.
The man sighed, hands on his pocket with an amused on sided grin. "Say that to Dino, and he'll buy you as much as you want." He said.
The girl pouted. "No. no!" She entwined her fingers together with a shook of head to decline. "I want it from you! And a dinner if you mind!" added with another request, she slung her arms around one of his' like a child.
Another defeated sigh. "And I can't believe that old man kept you so unimaginably clingy. Doesn't he torture you or anything to behave?" He asked.
Although quite offensive, she didn't mind. She knew what he meant and she knew what she experienced, however, being around ash felt safe to be carefree—ever since young. "Ah-ah! Now you owe me lunch tomorrow!" she added.
"What the hell's wrong with—"
"Na-uh. Another offensive unnecessary question! Now that's another dinner tomorrow!" she happily chimed.
"You little cotton candy—"
"Another abusively long use of nicknames! You have to pick me up next day morning. Yay!"
"Tsk." Clicking his tongue was the only option. The people around already had their fill watching their boss get totally picked up by a girl younger and now their satisfied that after getting beaten by their captain, someone else was beating him for them—well, not physically. Of course.
"Another happy date with Ash Lynx! You owe me a lot today, boss." She emphasized, letting his arm loose and then returning back to her guitar to tuck it back in its cover. When it was neatly zipped in, she raised it up planning to sling it back to her shoulder but the young blond had grabbed it beforehand, holding the handle and letting it rest on his side. "Awww. That's sweetly nice of you."
"Shut it cotton candy." He rolled his emerald eyes and walked towards the door first.
