Another day in the library. It was lunch and Y/n only had that luxury of time to study while others are busy eating. In that way, the place would be quiet and serene. No unnecessary distraction.
But she was faced with one problem... a book she cannot reach. She tiptoes to the edge of her height and length of arms as she tried to hop on the shelf to get it. But god, this American height is not helping. She's tall, average tall now after hitting puberty, but putting important books to the highest of their liberty is definite prejudice.
Now she's pissed. However, not in the mood to give up as she hopped again but still had the book out of reach. Until she realized someone already picked it up.
"Here." The male voice offered her the book he grabbed.
She turned to his direction, lifting her head to see the neck... then higher, head almost popping off her spine. Dang, I'm lower than his chest level... she mentally cursed. But given the fact he helped her out, she gave a smile. "Thank you." She said, taking the book he's been handing.
She paused to stare. He was doing the same in such observing gaze. She thought he looked familiar, a thought that took her through the trance of nostalgia. His slanted dark eyes, somehow jet black hair and grin looked even unquestionable. Her heart fluttered. Why? Because he looked like that Asian in his probable maturity age... that Chinese Gang boss downtown. She blinked twice, smiled again before she started away. That guy isn't him. A lot of Asian looked a lot like. Yes. A lot of them. She shook her head dismissively smiling at the thought if she tells it to Sing. 'I just found a tall guy who resembled you. He your big bro or something?' She chuckled.
Well, if she ever see him again. That is.
With the book in hand, she made her way to a table and quietly started studying. She was geared with her glasses after years of being such a nerd to try and change her image as a former assassin.
Seven years wasn't that bad in Caribbean with her dad. She's studying well and her future sure as hell served in a golden plater. But she missed that Chinese brat that's why she came back months ago. She asked Blanca if she could continue her studies and live back in Manhattan and he agreed as long as she keep her momentum in check.
But it's always incomplete. Whatever she was provided with doesn't really satisfy her emotionally.
Guess that apology is the only thing she needs to do. But two months has it been and yet she's still a coward, hiding away from dead problems.
"Y/n." She heard someone called. A boy sat beside her with an awkward smile on his face.
"Jared. Hi." She smiled back at him. A friend she got two months ago when she first came in. He was a nice guy, shy but sporty, smart but sometimes average. He's was famous as to being handsome, mainly being confessed to occasionally that he always turns down.
"Need some study buddy?" He asked.
"No. But if you want to study, feel free." She replied back looking to her book again.
The boy didn't speak. Only looked at his textbook and wipe his sweat every now and then. It didn't seem hot in the library as she thought so she's wondering why the boy's been sweating too much. Worried, she gave a looked at him and he did the same. "What is it?" He asked.
"Are you okay? You've been sweating. You should have a check up. It's not really hot here you know." She told him.
The boy quickly stood up. "Yes. I think I should." He dashed off the library and the girl simply watched him off.
It was until her phone rang. She saw the familiar number she's been waiting for as she answered. "Ash. Quite a while since you decided to call me." She started.
