"Took your time."
That was the first word she heard upon getting out of the campus gate. Her and a classmate who she was chatting on her way out stopped from the sight of the frowning little Chinese man, hands on his blue bomber jacket.
"Thank you for tbe notes okay." She smiled at her nicely and the shy girl gave the same smile back.
"Just ask me if you need anything else. I'll help the best I could."
"Yes of course. You're the best!"
She chuckled. "You brother must've been busy isn't he."
Y/n awkwardly smiles. "He's out of town for a while. Just phoned him and he doesn't seem happy."
She looked worried. "I wish he's okay." She said looking at her watch and sighed. "Oh, I... I'm going." Her classmate quickly turned around and ran before Y/n could even say a word. Simply waving a hand at her until she turned to a different direction.
"What's with her?" Sing raised an eyebrow questioningly following the girl with his eyes too.
"She's scared of gangsters. Don't mind her. But she surprisingly had a crush on bro so I don't know." She shrugged. "That's probably why she's hanging out with me."
"Is that right? She looked like an innocent high schooler who's grade conscious." He still sounded skeptic.
"Wow. You think she's cute?" She frowned to summarize. Sounding annoyed from hearing him compliment a girl.
"Shut up." He grunted, not even denying what she mentioned.
"Don't worry. You're appealing too..." she tapped his back lightly. "Just not enough to catch scaredy cat girls eyes who's afraid of thugs."
"I don't care about that!" Sing quickly defended.
She laughed sarcastically. "You looked upset so I thought about cheering you up. Don't be mad with your boss."
He hissed. "And you're making things worse." He replied annoyed.
"Hey. Am I not that enough for you. Stop being picky with women." She said seriously trying to undone the guitar slung on her shoulder, shoving it to him harshly and started walking away from her mumbling annoyed with: "I am prettier than her." Stench of pout painted to her lips that Sing couldn't help but feel baffled.
"What's wrong with you?" He bagged the guitar behind him following the girl who was pouting on the sidewalk. "Hey, your highness. What's wrong with you?" The chinese boss asked again.
"Ask that to yourself, hamster." She sounded unhappy. It's not like her to show that kind of face to him since she's usually that bubbly. And then she even took back his old nickname that was definitely something wrong.
He grabbed her by the arm forcing her to face him. "How am I supposed to know if you're not telling me why?" He retorted back the same tone she used.
"Well, figure that out!" She said back pulling her hand back and continued walking.
"You know you're being difficult."
"So what? You were being a jerk too." She said back evading his eyes away.
Sing hissed. "What the hell is this about?" He asked.
"Nothing." She sighed. "I'm just tired."
Sing remained quiet then. He wanted to ask what the hell was that about but seeing her down to upset felt even more unsettling. Yet curiosity was driving him insane about finding her problem.
"We had a deal. You're not suppose to lie to me."
"And I am telling you that I'm just tired--"
"That's half lying. You're not telling me anything at all." He was desperate to make her talk that it was infuriating. He was never been pushy towards anybody before yet here he was, trying to consider her as an exception. "Please. Just tell me."
She looked back at him. The pleasing was what caught her attention most. "Why do you want to know so badly?" She asked back. "Why do you have to care so much?"
Sing didn't know. And as a matter of fact, that was the question he hoped not to answer. "Well, I'm... I'm your body guard. I need to know what's upsetting you so I would at least get a clue." He reasoned out.
"I'm sorry. I just got jealous." She said. "I mean you didn't deny that she was cute in front of me! That's just uncalled for you idiot. Don't look at other woman when you're with me."
"What?" Sing was stunned from her confession. He could feel himself turning red till the ear. "Why would you be jealous?" He asked.
She looked away by then. Grabbing him by the collar of his jacket hinting embarrassment. "You know that I like you. So why would you ask such trivial thing."
"Haaah?!" His narrow eyes widened upon hearing her say that. "Are you making fun of me again?"
She looked up at him with a frown. "I'm not." Grabbing him closer by his collar only stopping when they were an inch away. "I told you I wouldn't lie. You already know my facade so you'll know whether I'm serious or not."
"You can't be serious. Why would you even like me?"
"Because Asians are my type." She rolled her eyes after saying it sarcastically.
"Stop joking around!" Sing complained.
"Because you care for me." She laughed. "You're cute, grumpy and honest. I'm grown hanging around gang men but for some reason, the first time I saw you, I realized you're someone different."
Sing frowned. Different wasn't a nice word.
"Hey, I mean it as a compliment!" She quickly assured him. "And why are you making me confess in public. Don't be so eager. We can talk privately." She blushed, letting his collar go and then started walking again.
The Chinese boy looked around, found people who passed by giggling at him. He sighed. Still in the proceedings of digesting what he heard from the last person he would want to confess to. But one thing is for sure... she was more than he could ask for.
"By the way, Sing. How's your gang going?" She asked.
The boy looked distressed over the question. Being suddenly appointed as boss isn't something he could easily control himself. "Guess my gang is still trying to accommodate the shock of losing our former boss." He replied.
"Hmm...? I'm sure you'll pull that off. You're special." She said. "I mean you're small but everyone agrees that you fit to rule them all."
"Don't say it like that. It's embarrassing!" He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
She gave a tap on his back. "You're such a shy guy." She sympathetically nodded. "I understand. Don't worry. It makes you look cute too."
"Quit it. And shut it or I'll make you."
"Oh? And how will you?"
"I'll stuff your mouth--"
"Great. I'm getting hungry. I'm glad you reminded me that I need to eat." She coiled an arm around his elbow. "I'm craving for some japanese dish. Let's eat." She pulled her with him.
"Just go home for this to be over with." He grunted annoyed.
"I don't care. I don't have a home here so I can do what I want."
"You-- uh. Nevermind just do what you want."
She laughed. "Thank you."
