"James?! What are you doing here? Most importantly, How did you get here?" Acacia is more than willing to bet everything in her possession that James was nowhere in sight when she was on her way.

James pulled back and she got on her feet, Straightening non-existent creases on her dress she frowned at the boy.

"I was just running around the castle." He casually lied and he was an expert at it, Acacia who is convinced dropped the mystery and remembered the dinner she's already late to.

"Alright. Have a good night." She smiled softly at him and began to walk away but she had the urge to look over her shoulder and she did, Finding no sign of him and she proceeded to make her way to Slughorn's office.

When she was welcomed in by the professor she smiled widely and looked around to search for Lily. "Good evening Professor, Forgive my tardiness. I got caught up with something." She apologized  and spotted the green-eyed girl already settled on the table and smirked inwardly at the empty seat beside her.

"No worries Ms.River, I was afraid you wouldn't come." The man replied and Acacia feigned a scoff, "I wouldn't miss it for the world."

With that, The table was complete and she took the seat next to Lily who smiled warmly at her.

Dinner began and they all ate in comfortable silence til Slughorn began conversing with his students, Only then did Acacia turn to Lily.

"Hi." The green-eyed girl was honestly taken back, A Slytherin is talking to a Muggleborn like herself.

Does she know about my blood status? She's new.

Lily greeted back and her Hello was barely audible from her shock. "My name's Acacia River." Offering a hand, Lily accepted.

"Lily Evans." She introduced herself, "I know. I've heard of the smartest witch in our year named Lily." The sentence made the girl blush and Acacia smiled inwardly.

Acacia was an expert at flattery. If you grew up trying to please your stone-hearted parents, Handing out compliments is child's play.

"Oh I wouldn't be too sure about that." Acacia only paused their conversation when Slughorn directed a question at her.

"Say Ms.River. You're a mystery to all of us. Tell us about your family." The girl stiffened and Lily noticed, The mention of her family hit a spot.
