Acacia's POV

The next morning. I stood before a body length mirror doing my tie while Adaline sat on her bed smoothening the creases of her robe.

"There's a spell for that you know?" Clara chirped from the vanity she sat at, she's doing her hair and it's always like this because she ends up just letting her short brown locks anyways. "Yeah but I don't it." Adaline groaned and Thalia came out of the bathroom with damp hair.

"Allow me." Clara got up and walked over to end Adaline's suffering. I giggled softly at my friends and pulled my hair into a ponytail

"Addy told us about your Potter issue." Thalia spoke up from beside me, she met my eyes through our reflection and I avoided her gaze, "What about it?" I nonchalantly asked.

"Why aren't you snogging his face off yet?" Thalia, always the frank one in the group. "Lia!" Clara, the mom scolded her youngest who only rolled her eyes.

I can't keep everything from them and they're my friends, they deserve to know, well — not everything because me being from the future should be one secret I take to the grave but they're obviously concerned.

I owe it to them when I came here at 4 in the morning with blood red eyes and tear-stained cheeks. "Because I can't be with him." Thalia snorted and got a smack from Clara.

"And why not, Ace?" Clarabell asked with arms crossed on her chest, I finished fiddling with my tie and turned to my three friends sitting next to each other.

Thalia is smirking, Clarabell is expressionless but her eyes showed concern and Adaline gave me reassuring smile. I heaved a long sigh, "I highly doubt his feelings are true," that's a lie because I believe in James.

"It might just be a crush because of how much I've been spending time with him and sooner or later he's gonna go back to chasing after Lily." I finished and they all nodded understandingly, Thalia shot a hand up like a student willing to recite.

"So you want to get rid of him?" She asked with a knowing smile and I nodded, Adaline looked concern at my answer. "I trust your judgement about James but you like him," She paused to eye our other two friends, right, she thinks I only like James.

"Wouldn't that hurt?" Clara finished for her. I cleared my throat, "It would hurt more if I go along with his crush and end up hurt when he goes back to Lily.", I hate lying to my friends but it would all make sense in the end.

All for the greater good, the only sacrifice would be my feelings and they're the least of concern when a war is coming. "Then we'll help." Thalia exclaimed and held her hand out and I placed mine on top of it, we both turned to Adaline and Clarabell who looked undecided.

"Only because I love you." Adaline placed her hand on top of mine and we all looked at Clarabell who rolled her eyes, "Of course I'm in, can't let you three have all the fun."

Now we're complete with her hand placed on top of Adaline's. "Get James Potter to bugger off, Go!" We repeated Thalia's words in between laughter and raised our hands in the air with cheers.

Attempt #1

At breakfast I can feel someone's gaze burning holes in my head, I sat in on a spot where my back will be turned on the Gryffindor table so I can avoid a pair of hazel eyes but I can feel them so it's pretty much useless but brainstorming with my friends distracts me from the uneasiness.

"I know just what to do," Clara with a proud grin, "Go on a date with someone." she finished and earned a small gasp from Adaline. Thalia nodded in agreement to the idea, "Even better, get a boyfriend." my purple-haired friend with a Slytherin grin added and earned another gasp from Adaline.

Addy is too cute right now so I turned to her, "What do you think Addy?" I asked with a small smile and she nibbled on her lower lip to gather her thoughts.

"I think that's horrible," she replied narrowing her eyes at Thalia and I chuckled at the small banter. "Oh come on, it's genius!" Thalia fired back and pointed at Adaline with her fork.

"Using someone else is not the answer," she replied with a groan and Thalia rolled her eyes, "Are you even a Slytherin?" Thalia asked as a joke and Adaline stuck her tongue out because she knew she was right.

"But going on a date isn't, right?" Clara asked, holding onto her idea and I nodded, going on a date isn't such a bad thing.

I might even enjoy myself and if it doesn't work out, I can make friends or at least have experience. "So our Plan A is going on  a date with someone, but who's the perfect candidate?" Clarabell rubbed her chin slowly looking around the great hall and her eyes landed on someone from our table.

I followed her line of sight and immediately shook my head, "Oh fuck no," I didn't bother filtering my words with how much I disagree but Clarabell smiled mischievously at me and wiggled her eyebrows.

Thalia figured out who and snorted, "Clara, did you not get enough sleep last night?" Thalia asked with a teasing tone because she agrees with me on how idiotic her obvious suggestion is.

"Hear me out," she raised both hands in defense, "He's a douchebag and Potter hates him." she shrugged while Thalia proo her arm on the table, she leaned her head on her hand to subtly eye the candidate Clara suggested and snorted again.

"Keep snorting and the table would fly away." Adaline scolded Thalia who in return snorted again to piss her off which worked but Adaline's not one to express her anger so she only gritted her teeth.

"I am nor going on a date with Lucius Malfoy." Clara groaned and slammed both hands on the table, "Fine, then give me the entire day. I'll find you someone."

Merlin, I'm so regretting this.
