Acacia is aware of how predictable she is so it was no surprise when James found her in a random bookstore. She had been looking at Muggle Novels and trying to focus on the book in hand aside the tall figure watching her just a few steps away, the boy leaned against a shelf cooly with crossed arms.
So that's it? He's gonna look for me and not even say anything?
Laughing bitterly to herself, the words failed to distract her so she lifted her gaze from the book to the dark-haired boy and raised a brow. She's calmed down and their argument took place an hour ago, she's not mad anymore but still disappointed. "It's rude to stare, Potter."
He seemed flustered that after 15 minutes of ignoring him, the girl finally said something. His words got stuck in his throat, parting his lips but failing to let out a word.
She placed the book back to it's proper place and turned fully to face James. She was gonna forgive him, she could never stay mad at him for some reasons and he plays a big part of her still unknown mission.
"I'm a jerk." She stepped back at his words, Well I certainly didn't expect that for a starter. She nodded anyways in agreement and failed to bite back the small smile on her lips.
"You're right. I'm a bully and I'm sorry for discriminating you and your house, I only said it because you were right and it's no excuse but what I think I'm trying to say is..." His left hand went up to scratch his nape awkwardly.
"I'm sorry." With that, Acacia's small smile grew wider and she didn't reply. Instead she grabbed the book Classic Fairy Tales : A collection and shoved it to the boy's chest.
"Make it up to me by buying that book and all is forgiven.", A grin broke out of his pursed lips and he frowned at the thick old-looking book.
"Muggle tales?" Acacia nodded and snatched it away to adore the cover, there is an illustration of a glass shoe and she could tell that the tale about it would be her favorite.
"Stop judging me. I wanna learn more about how Muggles view magic." James reached for the book she put away just before she started talking to him and scrunched up his nose.
Acacia can only role her eyes, he seems to be enjoying himself freely expressing disapproval of her taste in books. "Cut it out, JP." His face seemed to have lightened up now that the nickname returned. No matter how much he hates it and hoe stupid it sounds, he was glad.
"You read these? Romeo and Juliet?" He flipped it and smirked at the synopsis at the back of the cover. Acacia just crossed her arms to prepare for more teasing and was itching to hex the boy. Oh you better be glad I'm only 16.
He stole a glance to sed her scowling before reading it aloud, "Star-crossed lovers? Ms.River reads romance muggle books?", The book looked honestly promising to the girl and only huffed in annoyance. Dismissing the boy by grabbing the book and placing it on top of the fairy tales one.
"Nevermind forgiving you, you really are hopeless." She turned to leave faking sadness and when he called out her name she had to bit her lower lip to suppress a smirk. Always the good actress.
"Give me those stupid books!" He yelled and Acacia almost slapped his mouth shut from the looks they got, she ushered him to the counter and waited with a stern expression.
"You have books in your room, JP." She commented as they walk out of the bookstore, James insisted on carrying them to make it up to the redhead who just shrugged and walked ahead for him to catch up, which wasn't hard because he was much taller.
"And they're all about Quidditch." Of course, She sarcastically commented mentally and they entered a cafe. "Does your feet still hurt?", He asked and the blue-eyed girl scanned his face to find genuine worry.
"A bit but I'll live. If you don't mind, I'm gonna get started on this book." Pulling out the Muggle fairy tales one and focusing on the first page without giving the boy a second glance, James watched her eyes travel from left to right and frowned.
He wondered how some people can be big fans of reading books, They were just a bunch of words combined and cleaning cauldrons could be so much better to him. He never quite understood the logic behind getting lost in another world through the lines of a book, being transported into another world by using your imagination.
"At least tell me what coffee you'd like?" He boredly asked leaning closer to peak at her from above the book. The girl replied without even looking up to meet his eyes and he let out a sigh, getting up to walk to the counter. Leaving the redhead behind to her book.
When he returned with two cups of coffee he scowled at the book cover facing him, she then settled the book on the table. The pages staring back at her and she propped her elbow on the table to support her learned figure while her free hand reach for the mug and she took a sip to find the white coffee too hot. Mumbling profanities she blew on her cup and all of this happened with James intently watching her.
His mug cupped in both hands and both elbows rested on the wooden table but he's leaned back on his chair. She won't even take her eyes off that book. He's had enough when he snatched it away, almost making Acacia spill her coffee all over her and glared at James.
"We're supposed to have fun." He whined and settled the book on his lap, "I am having fun." The redhead replied with a low voice and James pouted, this was very much like James Potter but he's never acted like this toward his friends and something about how impulsive yet behaved Acacia is made him act different.
Maybe because she was different.
"But you're not talking to me." He replied grumbled and Acacia flinched at how child-like he was acting. Releasing a deep breath she looked down at her coffee cup then back up to James.
"How about we go get those groceries?"
