This is me

Entry Twenty Six

They tell me
You need to have good grades
They tell me
You need to be an honors student
They tell me
You need to just like your brother
They tell me
You can do much better than that
They tell me
Don't give up on your dreams
They tell me
Don't dream of something you know you won't succeed in
They tell me that I have to be this model child
That I have to do this to be that
That women can only do this
That they can't help me
That I have to succeed in this class
That I should be this instead of that
That I should be the person they want me to be......
That I can't succeed doing that
Well you know what I'll succeed my own way
I may not be organized
I may not be smart
I may not be a non-procrastinator
But I will succeed being me
I will become an
Organic Chemist or
Math/Choir/Art Teacher or
Architect or
Graphic Designer or
What ever comes to my future
I will be successful and prove to those
That told me that i won't get very far
In life
So I say
Screw it be you and what you wanna become
Don't go to college and apply for something
That you don't wanna do or what others told you should be cause it's not worth it
You waste your money
You waste your time
And most importantly you waste part of your life
So if you are like me and aren't organized or not smart or have many problems or a big procrastinator
Prove all of them
That you will be successful
More than they think you'll be
Cuz in the end you might not be an honors student
Or that model child
Or that perfect human being
But you'll be that person you want to be
