I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Blaze was jogging alongside me, with Erath slightly behind us, as if him dying and coming back from the dead was no big deal. I was leading us through the maze of streets, doing my best to avoid the Klanoat patrols that were using the main streets.

“How many times have you been spotted by the enemy,” Erath asked me.

“I don’t know,” I replied honestly, “They move in the shadows, and use the height of the buildings to their advantage. If I had to take a guess though, I would say that they have been following me for some time, before you two showed up.”

“Is your radio on?” Blaze asked.

“It is,” I answered, “I left it on so that I was able to listen in on the progress of the rest of the platoon.”

“Turn your radio off now,” Erath barked, “They’re probably tracking you through the use of energy readings that your equipment gives off.”

I reached behind me, and turned the dial on my coms unit to off. Once it had clicked into place, I returned my hand to the F16 that I held loosely in my grip. I looked over at Blaze, and noticed that exotic weapons he was had on him.

“Angel tech?” I asked, motioning towards the weapons that Blaze had on his person.

He nodded, “Didn’t have time to stop in at the nearest military instalment to pick up anything fancy.”

I continued to run for a bit, before I noticed that Blaze and Erath had both stopped in their tracks. I glanced around, and saw them staring up at the sky. I also looked up, before ducking to the ground, as a large black shape soared over head.

“What the hell?” I asked, before Blaze looked at me, a grin on his face.

“Remember Dragono?” I asked a shocked Adrian.

The human nodded, and so I hefted my assault rifle, before continuing forward. As I jogged I noticed that Adrian was starting to limp more and more often. So I stopped, and got Adrian to stop too.

“Erath, could you take my gear?” I asked, “I need to carry Adrian here, before he does his leg in.”

“But I’m fi…” Adrian tried to protest.

I drew my hand across my neck in a cutting motion, before growling, “You are far from fine Adrian. Regardless, we need to move quicker, so I might as well carry you.”

I handed my assault rifle and Beam Rifle to Erath, before hoisting Adrian onto my shoulders. I then started to move forwards, but was finding it slightly difficult, so I tried to draw in energy from around me.

But I couldn’t feel any difference. I almost started to panic, before trying again, and again. By the time I had taken a dozen steps, I was starting to get confused. I remembered being able to draw in energy from around me, but I couldn’t seem to remember how I got the ability or how to use it.

“Erath, my body has gone on the fritz,” I said, “I can’t seem to draw in any of the surrounding energy.”

“Let’s not deal with this right now,” Erath said, “At a later date maybe, but not now.”

I nodded before taking another step forwards. As me and Erath began to jog, then run, before finally going into a dead sprint, I was finding it both easier and harder to move with Adrian on my back.

Not that it mattered too much, because at the speed we were going, we had soon reached airport, and I could feel the air growing colder with every step I took. Then I tripped, as I stepped on a patch of ice.
