What the Hell is that?!

We moved forward quickly, but carefully, knowing that time was short, and that the enemy knew that we were around. I had my two energised Katanas out, as Blaze had us, Shadowflame and the remains of two-five platoon, move from building to building.

He would always go first, making sure that the way was clear, before waving the rest of us forwards. I guess it might have something to do with the fact that he was indestructible in a way, but I couldn’t really give a full answer, as I didn’t know what he had been through to get back to the land of the living.

“Move forward…now,” Blaze whispered, as he sprinted forwards.

I followed quickly, making sure that the alien never left my sight. As we neared the Beehive, Blaze had become increasingly cautious, leading the squad and I to think that there might be something going on that he hadn’t told us.

I shook my head, clearing those kinds of thoughts. We were in the middle of a battle for goodness sake, there was no time for doubting our leaders, no matter how much we would like to.

“Enemy contact,” I heard Adrian’s voice say, “Enemy patrol five clicks west of your current location. Moving in to support.”

“Hold fire, Two-Five,” I heard Blaze retort, “Let ‘em come to us.”

Blaze raised his Angel assault rifle, so that the butt was in his shoulder, as he crouched, and moved around the corner.

“Shadowflame, follow my lead,” was Blaze’s quick, yet efficient command, “Nice and slow, don’t want to screw up now.”

I did what Blaze said, and quickly replaced one of my energised Katanas with my F5 sidearm. As I drew abreast with Blaze, I raised both weapons into a position that would make it easy to deploy them.

Blaze nodded in my direction, before pointing for me to move into a building that was just left of him. He then motioned for Stephen to move forwards. Whatever he had told Stephen to do, I didn’t catch, because I was moving forwards.

When I entered the building that Blaze had pointed out, I quickly moved up the stairs. Until I ran into a Klanoat Elite; I didn’t actually run into him, but I did see him, though I doubted he saw me. And I saw what he was doing to the family of deceased humans that were in the hallway before him.

I couldn’t even find the will to bring my sidearm to bear because of how surprised I felt. Then I heard the sound of Stephen’s Railgun go off, and the Elite dropped to the ground.

“One less Bug to have to deal with,” the English teen muttered, “And one more kill for me.”

I shook my head again, trying desperately to get rid of the sight that had shocked me more than a horde of zombies, something that had confused me more than the existence of the Dark Clones.

The Klanoat Elite had been standing over the human bodies, with what looked like a bible in its hands, speaking clearly in English. The Elite had been in the process of closing the first of the humans’ eyes, when Stephen had gotten it through the chest.

I moved forward, and knelt down beside the Elite, and closed its eyes, before moving on to the humans, completing the job that the Klanoat had tried to start. When I had finished, I picked up the book that the Klanoat had been reading from, before tucking it away in one of my pockets.

It might come in handy one day, so why not hold on to it?

We moved forwards once more, once Stephen had told Blaze that he was in position. The patrol that Adrian had warned us about never crossed paths with us, and we were almost at the Beehive, when we ran into another patrol.
