I was at the front of the squad, a position I remembered fell to the second-in-command. I was here, because I had handed command over to Blaze shortly after we had found some transport that got us to the FOB.

Well, actually it only got us about five kilometres off, before we had to dump the damn bus. The Aliens, who Erath had told us were actually called Klanoats, had ambushed us as we had tried to take a shortcut over a highway.

A tank had been in the vicinity, but didn’t really last long, as the Klanoat’s brought in one of their tanks. The resulting chaos ended with several more Marines dead. All of those that had been killed though had been rookies, and now there were only the veterans that had fought alongside us on Ralsco, whom I knew I could trust.

“Um sir,” I called backwards, “We may have a problem.”

“What kind of problem?” Blaze asked me as he came forwards, “What are you talking about Pri… Holy son of a…”

Everyone came crowding forward, but Blaze was quick to wave them back, as he and I approached the devastated FOB. When we were close enough to the base for Blaze to get an accurate idea of the layout, he dropped to his knees, clutching his head as he screamed out.

“No! No leave me alone!” he screamed, “I don’t want to remember!”

I bent down next to him, about to put my arm on his shoulders, but had to jump backwards, as he lashed out with his arm.

“Leave me alone,” he shouted, “Stay away from me Cre^dus!”

The pain came to fast for me to prepare. Instead I dropped to the ground, as thousands of memories from my past lives came rushing forwards in a dizzying headache inducing crash.

“You are pathetic,” one memory of Cre^dus taunted me.

“How could you amount to anything?” another demanded.

“Freak! You and your dragon don’t belong here!” a memory of one of my days a rider slammed into me.

I didn’t know what was going on, only that I was suffering pain, so much pain. Most of the memories that were forced onto me were from when I was a child. There was only one memory from when I was training as a rider, and that was of a large body of students jeering at me, because I had failed to protect a farm from Dark Riders.

I clutched at my head again, as I felt Delsk Jrecsktfra jab a needle into my arm. I then grunted as Cre^dus kicked me in the gut. This was quickly followed by a groan as I remembered pulling a shard of glass out of my arm.

‘Ugh! Why must these memories hurt so much?’ I screamed into my head.’

‘Because you let them be,’Jrecsktfra’s disembodied voice stated, ‘And because pain is the only thing that you have, and ever will, know.’

‘That can’t be true!’ I screamed back, ‘It just can’t…’

I started to see darkness rushing towards me, before stopping maybe five metres away. I turned around in a full circle, before seeing what caused the darkness to stop.

Then I saw what was stopping them from coming any closer. Standing right next to me was a female elf about my age. But she only looked like an elf in physical appearances. She was actually made out of ice, pure, cold ice.

Then I looked down at my hand, as I felt the strange woman grab it. I accepted to feel a cold feeling running up my arm as frost quickly rushed up my arm. But instead, I felt myself heat up, as if from some sort of source on my inside.
