When it came to the day of Yule which was the twenty forth of December Sarina was part of the many activities the family did that day. From baking and decorating cookies, making a ginger bread house and even going out to see a parade that happened near them. Sarina never knew so much happened during the month of December. All she knew of was that it was the month of snow and very cold nights on the cement floor of the basement.
Seeing the floats and hearing the music that played was a first for her. She felt like a little child seeing all the lights and hearing the music. Afterwards their parents took them to get hot cocoa which Sarina was unease about. But she waited a bit to drink hers so she wouldn't get her tongue burnt off like Kankuro got his brunt off. Seeing that happen she waited a bit as she saw Temari and their parents laugh at his misfortune.
Once she was able to drink her hot cocoa her eyes widen tasting the chocolate for the first time. She licked her chapped lips as she looked down at the cup in her hand before she downed the entire cup in one go. She then let out a content sigh as she licked her lips once more feeling chocolate on her lips. Gaara got a napkin and he wiped the chocolate that she missed off of her face which made her blush as she stared at him bashfully. "T-Thank you Gaara."
"Think nothing of it. Was that your first time drinking Cocoa?" He asked
She nodded her head silently, Gaara wasn't surprised due to the fact that he figured she had been neglected from a lot in the past which it was their job to make sure she knew what it was like to be cared for and loved. When they got home the parents had the four kids sit down as they were given presents. Sarina expected for their kids to get presents-in honesty she didn't expect to get anything from them. But it surprised her when she got a few things from the duo.
She got her own laptop and phone as well as a phone card. She also got a few games to play on her computer as well that they thought she might like. She thanked them and hugged them both before she had Gaara and Kankuro help her out with her electronics. She was able to get Gaara, Kankuro, Temari and Sasuke's number.
Sarina stayed up for most of the night looking up different bands that Sasuke thought that she might like. So she was listening to them on and off until she found something that she liked. One band she liked a lot was Blood on the Dance floor which she remembered Gaara wearing a t-shirt for. She then went to find music on her own as she was on youtube only to find a few bands that she really liked and found the proper name for the kind of music she liked which was K-pop. Even if she didn't understand most of it she knew that there were captions on some of the video's that made it easier for her to read the lyrics to what was being sang.
After a while she ended up falling asleep around midnight on her own. As she slept on her own she felt unease about the nightmares she had about her elder brother forcing himself on her and covering her mouth with his hand as he repeatedly ignored her pleading eyes. Sarina quickly woke up before she went to Gaara's room knocking on the door. He opened the door only to see Sarina in tears, he pulled her into his arms as he calmed her tears.
"You're okay-it'll be alright Sarina. Calm down." He said sincerely to her
"I...It seemed so real though." She said through her sobs
Gaara pulled her into his room and he cupped her face in his hands. "It's not real, you are safe-your brother is gone. He's not going to hurt you. He won't ever hurt you again."
She sniffled as she looked up into his eyes. "P-Promise?"
"Yes, I promise."
She closed her eyes as she placed her hands over his. "O-Okay...."
