Chapter twenty: Cuts

It was days after Sarina was bullied and Sarina was still having troubles smiling or being around Gaara normally. Even though Gaara would try to encourage her to try to smile a bit more-it wouldn't work in his favor. She would just ignore his pleads and shut herself in her room. Gaara didn't know what to say or do to get Sarina to be herself anymore-so he had to ask their friends for help.

Sakura and Sasuke came over only for Sakura to go up first to see if talking to her one on one would help her out only for Sakura to come bolting back down the steps. "Gaara come up with me please."

Gaara nodded his head confused and followed her up the steps only for Sakura to show him that Sarina was on the floor in her room with her arms both bleeding out. He quickly went up to her and he placed his pointer and middle finger against her neck to see if she had a pulse only to feel a faint one. He wrapped her arms up only to have her go to the ER after Sakura called for an ambulance. Gaara went with her to make sure that she was alright.

Later that night Gaara saw his siblings come into the waiting room with Sakura and Sasuke. Temari and Kankuro comforted Gaara knowing that he was feeling down due to Sarina being in the hospital again. They all waited till around ten when a nurse told them that Sarina was stable and she was awake. Gaara was the first to talk to her since he was so worried about her.

When he got into the room he saw that she was just staring out the window with her hands one on top of the other. She looked to the door when she saw Gaara only to look back at the window again. "Sarina...Why won't you tell me what's wrong with you?"

"I'm just a burden Gaara, I don't feel like if I would have said anything if it'd change anything." Sarina said with a sigh

"What makes you think that would happen? Sarina, we're together for a reason. You can lean against me when something is wrong with you. I don't mind...really."Gaara said sadly as he walked up to her before he held her hands in his. "I don't like seeing you like this Sarina, I know you've been suffering a lot since what Matsuri did to you but she hasn't tried anything since then. You don't have to worry about her anymore."

"I know-but there are still others that will try to hurt me Gaara, I don't want to be alive if all I'm going to get is hurt and distress for being myself." Sarina said sadly

"I'll do what I can to help you through all of this but you need to communicate with me too Sarina." Gaara said sincerely as he made her look at him.

She teared up as she looked him in the eyes. "I..I guess I can try but no promises there. I just..I just have a hard time expressing myself. Being so used to not expressing myself day after day. Concealing all the thoughts and pain that I've gone through-it's going to take more than just being with someone as sincere and considerate as you are to make me open up."

Gaara pressed his forehead against hers gently before he brushed his freehand against the side of her face softly. "I'll do what I can to help you with that. I want to be able to see you smile and laugh Sarina."

She gave a slight nod brushing their foreheads together before she felt him kiss her cheek softly. "It'll be okay, you won't be in here for a long period of time I just hope that you realize that I'll be seeing you every day after school so you know just how much I truly care for you."

She teared up as she heard him speak. "O...Okay Gaara...I'll keep you to that."

Gaara then left out before she saw Temari and Kankuro who talked to her-they were both concerned and she repeated what she told Gaara about not being able to express herself or say what's on her mind.
