Y'all, I'm sorry, but this is a really harsh and touch subject, and you should tread lightly when writing about it.Abuse is something that's hard to write about, but somehow Almost every Peter Parker fan fiction has an abusive dad, and it really throws me for a run.
I told myself that I need to stop saying "don't write this" and more of "how to write this" so here we go:
An abusive father won't be aggressive all the time. Usually an abusive person has a tick, alike to how someone with panic attacks have a trigger.
For some, they only get physically abusive when they drink or intake drugs, for others, they might get like that when they here certain news or get set off by something.
Another thing about abusive people is that an abusive person isn't subjective to one person. In every fanfic it's the father, if not it's the mother who is abusive because the dad passed away. A brother or significant other is perfectly capable of this too.
They also don't only punch a victim. I hate to write this, but this is what they'll most likely do in order of how the situation would progress.
-their eyes will be blood shot
-face will be red
-fists will be balled and their veins will pop out
-they'll yell progressively louder and spit more and more with their anger
-follow their victim around even when they are visibly trying to get away
-grab wrist
-pull for an open area
-scream at them while holding their fist up
-corner them
-then they'll start hitting them, but when they hit, it's not like a street fight, it's a hit with a purpose to make the victim be quiet and listenIn no way do we condone this, nor do we support it, and I much rather you not write it but it's something that needs to be covered. This is wrong and anyone who chooses to physically hurt someone like this is sick.
