Due to the title and pic above, you can assume what's coming up. I am a twin, and everyone tells me "oh i wish i had a twin I could do so much with them" but its not sll fun and games, so dont give your OC a twin if you dont know how twins interact.
First off, let's get an obvious list of twins going:
•identical
•fraternal
•mirror
•half identical
And there's about three more that are crazy scientific and really hard to spell out.Of course the first two on our list are the most common, don't be afraid to mix it up, but also don't be afraid of research, I haven't experienced this yet, but readers could possibly get mad at a lack of information, or false information. Especially twins, because I do get mad when I read a fanfic with thwins that arent twins.
For identical twins: (If your twins are close)
• They fight but two seconds later they are best friends again
• They love each other and usually dont seperate from eachother besides in school
• They get irritated with each other easily
• Most of the time they have to share everything
• They fight over who is better
-They have they same friends
• They're super protective unless the other twin is getting in academic trouble or yelled at by an adult
• They get asked the same questions every time when meeting someone new, which are: are y'all twins? Who is older? How can I tell you apart? Who's taller? Who's smarter? Can y'all read each other's mind? If I hit her will you feel it? Can you tell if she's sad and your not with her? And so much more!
• Sometimes they go everywhere with each other.
• They want independence from each other but still miss them when they're separated
• They accept the other twins flaws and just kinda live with the idoit that they happen to look like
But this is all my experience from being a identical twin...If your idintical twins are not so close:
-They're never seen together
-Fight a lot
-Have different friends
-Talk to each other, but they wont be spending evey minute of evey day with each other like identicals
-They dont talk about t=having a twin, if anything they kinda think of their twin like their sister
This is just from my experience of knowing a twin whose not as close with their sister as me...For fraternal twins: (usually boy/girl)
• people won't know they're twins unless they are told
• they don't care for each other as much and fight more, but don't befriend each other as quickly.
• they most likely don't share a room, but if they do they fight over habits and living styles of the others.
• when people find out they're twins they're like "woah I never knew"
• they get asked the same questions as identical twins
• these twins will still love each other and be protective but keep their distance.
• they're just overall not as close
Sorry if I got anything wrong I'm not a fraternal twin so I don't know much, this is just from what I hear.
Now that that's out of the way...
When -- and some people can back this up -- your writing about a twin, it's like giving them a best friend, or someone who follows them around everywhere and helps out, chips in, and over all just does everything with them. Think about it as writing a best friend with your OC all the time, but they get irritated with each other and fight a lot.Just simple tips for writing a twin, but here's a warning, I've tried giving my OC a twin and it's harder than it looks. You sometimes forget they exist, and they have no real reason for being there, so if you do decide to put one in, dont forget about them.
