Daisy Lynn POV
Ayana and I watched as Dziko visibly seethed. Even Giovanna paused from her taunting. Smart. Dziko is not someone you want to piss off. And that's exactly what she'd done.
I felt something rumbling beneath us. Ayana and I tried to get Dziko's attention, but to no avail. There were loud thuds that started off faintly, and then slowly but surely started getting louder and louder. I wasn't sure what was happening.
"Who do you think you are?!" Dziko shouted.
Giovanna looked stunned. So did Leona. Whatever spell she'd tried to cast on Dziko to make her stop talking obviously either wasn't powerful enough or just flat out didn't work. Dziko was the most stubborn person I knew. She was very willful. Trying to make her do something she didn't want, or stop her from doing something she fully intended on doing, was like trying to stop a train without any brakes. You can try, but you'll just get run over without a second thought.
Just as Giovanna seemed to be getting over the shock of it all, two huge boulders came bursting through the ground beneath us. They ripped right through the metal flooring and landed roughly.
If I didn't think Dziko was pissed before this then I knew it now. This whole building was surrounded by metal, but somehow she'd managed to dig deep enough to reach the earth beneath the foundation and bring it forward. It left two large holes in the floor. I could see the dirt from where I stood - which meant Ayana could most likely access plant life too.
"I want that redhead and I want this one right here," she said pointing at Hunter. Then she made eye contact with me. She had to know who Hunter was to me.
"You do anything and I kill them both right now. And just to be safe, let's grab the girl too. Must be related to the one who can control fire," she told Winston.
Leona complied and the others began to look around and come to. Giovanna moved quickly. Her aura began to twirl about in the air.
"Oh no you don't!" Dziko said and one of the boulders went flying at Giovanna. She put up a hand surrounded by her aura and crumbled the boulder into pieces.
Then Leona grabbed Salali and dragged her through whatever portal she'd created.
I saw a large root come out of the hole in the ground and wrap around Sakima and Ken and began dragging them toward us. Sakima still seemed out of it, but I saw him look around a few times, before he began to struggle.
"Where's Salali?" he demanded, fighting against the root that Ayana had wrapped around him.
I used my powers to grip onto Hunter and Timothy.
"She was taken and we're trying to keep the same from happening to the others," Ayana said quickly.
I saw Giovanna's use her hand, surrounded by her aura and grab Hunter. It was hard. Trying to keep my hold on him and Timothy at the same time. And I couldn't pull back too hard otherwise I'd injure them. I could only hold on so tight before I did serious damage to their insides. Or even inadvertently ripped the blood right out of their bodies.
"Hunter!" I cried. Finally when he looked around he was able to see. His eyes met mine, and I could see relief. Followed by sorrow. And then pain. I knew our tug of war was hurting him.
"I'll be okay," he said. But I knew he didn't believe that. I refused to let go. That meant giving Giovanna what she wanted. Then I saw more pain on his face. His skin was turning red. And I knew if I didn't let go, we would end up killing him. Which was perfectly okay with Giovanna.
So I released him. And if I thought that my heart had already been ripped out once today, it had been ripped out yet again.
"Hunter," I said softly, tears streaming down my face.
