Giovanna POV

Everything was almost set.

With the snap of a finger, I'd cleansed most of China of the wretched humans. It had taken a lot of energy. Without Myra I might not have been able to do something on such a large scale.

The elemental Unknowns had done a lot of the heavy lifting in Russia. And the shape shifter had done a good job putting the humans to rest in the United States. There were still other countries out there of course, but for the most part, the key players had been subdued. The humans were no longer a threat. We Unknowns had shown them our true power.

Well, most of us had.

I still had a bone to pick with the shape shifter. She'd defied me one too many times and now I had her brother. He had been Marked by the Supreme. As I observed his powers, I realized that he might be even more useful than a shapeshifter. I'd appreciated Celeste's ability to regenerate and infiltrate unnoticed, but the ability to have every animal on this planet at your beck and call?

Brilliant.

Still, I wanted them both. I considered the fact that Celeste did not join with me to be a loss, and I did not lose quietly. Her brother was mine. And if she did not come willingly then I would break him. I would destroy her precious little brother to show her that I, Giovanna, would stop at nothing to win.

I had a plan and nothing would stand in my way. Not the shapeshifter. Not the girl who could control water. Not that barbarous telepath named Jason either. This world was meant for Unknowns to inhabit - alone. It was time for evolution to begin what it had started.

All humans would die. All Unknowns would side with me or else they would face the consequences. This war would end with me one top.

"Again," I said to Myra and she infused me with more raw energy. My body converted it into magical energy.

"Procidat Deceptionem," I whispered, in the tongue of the language that my powers responded to.

I needed more energy for what I wanted to accomplish. I wanted to win, yes, but I did not want to be forced, to kill more Unknowns than necessary. They needed to see things the way I did and the only way to do that was by using my powers. I would not kill them unless I absolutely had to. I had let Daisy Lynn live, even helped her in her troubled state.

They needed to see before it was too late. They had to understand before they left me with no options other than to annihilate them.

"Procidat Deceptionem," I said through clenched teeth, feeling my aura expand.

Almost. I was almost there. Something of this scale just required a little more time and a lot more energy.
