Daisy Lynn POV
A moment ago, things had been tense, but still in control. Then Dziko had decided to get under Sakima's skin instead of offering comfort in his time of need. She'd intentionally egged him on in an argument, and Sakima wasn't in the mood for words. Now the scene before me was filled with smoke and fire and I had to back away before I got scorched.
He charged at her, wildly. Dziko shifted the ground beneath his feet, making him lose his balance and fall. But he was too angry to be fazed by that. He propelled himself into the air like a rocket, firing off blasts of fire that grew hotter by the second. One moment the fire had been red, and it was slowly beginning to turn blue.
Dziko used her powers to push the rest of us back even further. Then she dodged Sakima's fireball nimbly. I was surprised. Normally Dziko was very stationary when she fought, but now it seemed like she'd actually learned a few things from Ken. Sakima fired, she blocked with a wall of rock then fired back, sending balls of rock shooting toward him.
Sakima put a hand out and literally burned the rocks into lava in midair. Then he landed on the ground and shot them right back at her. Dziko was ready for it. She did a backflip to evade it and when she landed she knelt down into this stance like she was a track runner getting ready for a sprint.
When she took off, she really took off. She was never someone I expected to be fast. In all the time I'd known her, Dziko's style of fighting was pretty static. She was a force to be reckoned with - like an immovable wall. She stood her ground and pelted rocks at you that might as well have been mountains. So for her to literally flip and dodge was a shock to me. For her to sprint at Sakima with actual, legitimately impressive speed took me aback.
It was like she'd converted her immovable wall into an unstoppable force. She charged at Sakima making the ground rumble and crack and cave in behind her. For her to have that much force and power behind each step and stlll have speed? It was....it was amazing. And then she plowed into with the ground shattering force of an earthquake. The ground literally quaked upon impact. Where their bodies landed, rocks were shattered into dust and formed a cloud in the air.
I couldn't see. Then some sense came back to me. I looked at Ayana.
"Shouldn't we stop them?" I asked.
"No. I trust Dziko," was all she said as she kept a keen eye on the fight.
A flash of blue in the middle of the dust cloud. Another flast. Then another. More rumbling of the ground and then...and then.
Lava everywhere!
Dziko and Sakima no longer fighting with rocks and fire, but lava. Sakima aggressively sending balls of lava hurdling at her and Dziko carefully avoided touching them and yet still used her powers to make them go flying back. No one was landing any blows. They each were bobbing and weaving, avoiding the other's attacks.
As the fight went on, I felt my left arm begin to throb. I rubbed my scar and it was very warm. I caught Ken's eye. He looked concerned. My gaze fell back onto Sakima and Dziko. It felt like I was mentally being dragged into their quarrel. Sakima shot more lava at Dziko, but it seemed like it was backed by wind this time. I could hear it whizzing through the air, whirling and whipping up the winds. And when Dziko countered it was like I could feel her digging deep into the ground. It was almost as if I was standing there in her place, fighting too.
I was in a daze. It was like I was watching the fight from where I stood, but I could also see through their eyes. Like being in two places at the same time. It was disorienting. And the more they added to the intensity of their powers, the more I felt like I was being sucked in.
