Daisy Lynn POV
The next day we all agreed on a plan on how to get to get back to the US. Since China was not longer hostile, we were going to head to the airport and take a flight. If there weren't any flights scheduled, then we'd persuade them to do so.
When we got to the airport I was just a little nervous. Everything was so empty and barren looking. Was this really going to work? Were humans even here?
We walked through the doors and saw a few people actually inside. They looked like they worked there. Most were in uniform like they a flight attendant. One could have been a pilot. When they saw us, they bolted.
Dziko shifted the floor and the people lost their balance. Then Ken came in with powerful winds and knocked them down. Sakima and I ran up to them and held them down.
"We need to get to the United States," Sakima said, holding up his hand and creating a small fire.
I saw the fear in their eyes. I hated it, but in this situation it was necessary.
"We don't want to hurt you," I added.
"We have not been authorized to fly. Most of the workers here have been killed along with our superiors. They were all humans....but we are not. We are like you," the one who looked like a pilot said.
"Then you will help us," Sakima said, his voice a low growl.
The pilot nodded, bobbing his head up and down wildly.
"We need to get to Arizona. Southwest Arizona," I said.
"Follow me. Hurry," the pilot said.
We followed the pilot and the flight attendants through the security gate and down the bridge that lead to one of the planes.
"So all of the humans are dead?" Ayana asked.
"Shortly after our country was attacked, many Unknowns who were held hostage was set free. They'd assured the humans they would bring them no harm, but then....but then....." the man trailed off tears in his eyes. Ayana put a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"All of the humans were killed. Many dropped dead. Some disappeared into thin air. I...I've never seen anything like it. My wife was a human. She never meant me or any other Unknown any harm, b-but she was killed without a second thought," the pilot stammered.
"Did you see the person responsible for this?" Ayana asked him softly.
"S-she had violet hair and she had a few others with her. No more than five people, did this. But the violet hair, she killed them all. Killed them all with the snap of a finger. Then she threatened any Unknown who did not agree with her actions. Told us that she would do the same to us if we tried to undermine her. She kills my wife and then threatens me for taking issue with it," he said.
"Her name is Giovanna and we aren't like her. We're here to defeat her. But we need your help," I said. The pilot shook his head.
"You all do not stand a chance. Do you not understand? A snap of a finger! Run for your life while you can. Run!" he cried.
I looked at the others. Sakima looked concerned, and I knew he was thinking about Timothy and his sister. I thought about Hunter. We might be chasing our tails here. I didn't put it past Giovanna to kill them in spite. But I had to hope that we would find them and that they were still alive. We couldn't give up now.
"What happened to the Unknowns that chose to side with her?" I asked.
"I don't know. We ran while we still could. I do know that one of them was a telepath. We had to get away before she scrutinized us too closely."
