35. Living Nightmare

Nathan was extremely depressed for losing his best friend. He was even more depressed to think of what had happened and how many people died. He tried very hard not to think of the horrific accident all the time.

Several days passed but Nathan hardly ever spoke, concerning both his parents with his behavior.

He had been through a lot in his life but it was more than obvious that he started to lose himself in all this misery that used to follow him since birth.

He asked his father to remain home schooled for the rest of the year, but Severus wasn't so sure that it would be the best option for Nathan. Loneliness could be a nasty trap with unstable results.

The whole accident with its results had a very negative impact on Severus and Charlotte's marriage too.

They started arguing more often, with Charlotte being extremely anxious for Nathan and starting to doubting Severus for his parenting on certain issues.

It was the first time Severus was actually questioned by Charlotte, which made his insecurities to come back even bigger.

Time was passing by without any progress.

Nathan was mostly in his room, which he locked and put extra wards so not even Severus could break in.

He was beyond terrified when Nathan locked himself up like that.

One night, Charlotte couldn't take it any more.

When Nathan entered the kitchen to make a sandwich, having missed the family dinner on purpose, as he have used to do, she went to his room and destroyed it completely.

She smashed the door, she destroyed the bathroom, she broke the windows. Every single thing was destroyed.

- WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING, MOM ? WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU FUCKING DOING ? Nathan was frantic as he stormed back to his room.

Severus had reached his limit and started shouting

- DON'T YOU DARE USE THAT LANGUAGE TO YOUR MOTHER! APOLOGIZE ! NOW! NOW NATHAN ! he was growling .

Charlotte was calm but spoke nothing.

Nathan turned to Severus, pushing him hard away from him and screaming like crazy: "FUCK YOU DAD ! FUCK YOU AND EVERY ONE IN THIS FUCKING HOUSE! I FUCKING HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! DO YOU LISTEN ? I FUCKING HATE YOU!

Severus tried to stop him from hitting him, but instead of pushing his son away too, he tried to immobilize him with a hug. It was an obvious mistake, since Nathan outraged kicked with his knee hard and hit Severus on his groin, causing him to fold momentarily.

Charlotte tried to approach him but she was frozen.

Severus was in such pain that couldn't hold himself any longer.

He completely lost his temper and grabbed his son from his shirt, lifted him up a bit and started slapping him hard on his face.

Charlotte freaked out and she reached for Severus, trying to stop him and crying while begging him to stop.

Nathan kept shouting "FUCK YOU! I HATE YOU" even harder with each slap on his face.

While Charlotte kept trying to make Severus stop, Severus accidently hit her.

Charlotte lost balanced and she fell on the floor.

Her fall drew Severus attention, who immediately released his son and reached out to his wife.

She was crying in silence.

Severus was also crying as was Nathan.

-Mom, mom... Nathan tried to whisper.
