41. Home Schooling

When they came back, they were all refreshed.

Charlotte's idea of taking a break was exactly what they needed. It was easier to have serious conversations when you are away from home and memories.

As soon as they settled and ate their supper, Severus addressed Nathan:

- Nathan, I would like a word in private, if you please, to discuss home schooling, Severus said quite seriously.

Nathan was a bit confused but asked away immediately:

- Shall I call you Professor ?

- No, I am always Dad, even when I teach you, he replied with a warm smile.

- Do you wish me to come right now ? May I use the bathroom first ?

- Of course you may. Meet me in the lab in 1 hour. You have enough time to even rest a bit if you feel like it. Wear proper clothing, though, ok ?

- Certainly, Dad.

When he was ready he knocked on his father's lab door.

- Enter.

He entered slowly.

- Sit, Nathan, would you like tea ?

- Yes, please.

He offered tea to his son and started talking immediately.

- We will start with your lesson on Monday. During these 5 days to come, I would like first to discuss the program and the themes I am going to teach you and as soon as we have agreed, we will go to the Ministry to declare that you will be home schooled and we also need to go shopping to get our supplied, is that clear ? his father addressed him. He was firm and serious, which caused Nathan to feel a bit insecure.

Nathan looked up to his father and agreed.

- Of course he paused and then added a quick "Dad".

Severus looked back at him.

- Hey, what's wrong ?

- I don't know. I am trying really hard to see you as a Dad/Teached but I can't. Nathan replied with half a laugh.

- Ok... well. Don't call me Dad. Call me Father instead. More formal. ok ?

- It's better, I think. So what are you going to teach me father ?

- First of all, we will be working together from 08:00 until 19:00 Monday to Friday.

Nathan's face dropped.

- Will I have some spare time in between ?

- Actually no. We will eat lunch together of course.

- Ok, Father.

- Now, as for the subjects to study, I think you would like to know that they will be the following:

History of Magic ( Nathan made a face ), Potions, Spells, Occlumency and Legilimency, Astronomy, Ancient Runes, Transfiguration, Herbology, Defence against the Dark Arts.

Nathan smiled at his father only to receive a smirk with a remark "And of course as I promised to my dear son, Dark Arts".

- Well, they are a LOT! I understand why we have to work so many hours per day.

- Is there anything else you would like to ask ?

- I have little time for homework and even less for working out, he said a bit reluctantly.

- Indeed. I won't have you study too much. As for working out, we could extend 19:00 to 20:00 and play quidditch together on a daily basis.

- You play quidditch ?
