44. Vacations

Since Severus granted his son a break before his exams, 3 days after Bella's homecoming, they departed for Dubrovnik.

The villa was actually a small Mansion, with private beach and servants.

Charlotte never gave the full information of her personal property to either Severus, who was quite surprised and a bit annoyed with the fact and of course to neither of their children.

Their mouths fell open when they saw the house.

- Mother, do you keep other surprises for us, as well ? Nathan commented. He was also a bit annoyed for not knowing the whole truth.

- Nathan, there is no point to know more than needed. It will only create further stress to all of you, believe me.

Severus stared at his wife with obvious bitterness. If she wasn't pregnant, he would be more than certain that this would not pass like that.

When they were settled, they changed into their swimsuits and went to their beach to relax and enjoy the waves.

Severus was sad and unable to convey it.

Charlotte sensed it and approached him, holding both of his hands.

- You felt bad enough and inferior to me only knowing what you knew, imagine what you would feel if you knew everything.

- I am your husband though, he replied. I have never kept anything hidden from you, he replied trying hard to keep the forming tears in his eyes.

- I did it to protect you.
- I knew you were wealthy, Charlotte. I knew it from the beginning.

- Yes, but how much wealthy ?

- That I believe you will tell me now.

- If you read Muggle Financial Newspapers, then you would have a glimpse.

- You are in the Newspapers ?!

- I am , but under my private office's name.

Severus tried to let the information to sink in.

- Why didn't you insist on a prenup then ?

- Why should I ?

- You were considered dead for 6 years.

- Indeed, and everything had passed down on you and on Nathan. But when the muggle attorney tried to contact you, you turned him down and put wards.

- What does this suppose to mean ?

- Nathan would be full beneficiary as soon as he turned 18. I have arranged everything according to the Muggle Laws, in order to keep our world safe.

Severus's gaze fell on their children who were building a sand castle. Then he turned his eyes on Charlotte again.

- How much ?

- Let's say that we can have a very comfortable life, us and the kids, and our grandchildren and our great grand children.

- Why didn't you tell ?

- I don't wish for either of my children to turn to rich spoilt brats. I prefer simple life, remember ?

- Then why did you propose us to come here and risk a full revelation ?

- Because, I felt I needed it, Sev. It's as simple as that.

Severus was silent. It was hard to accept it.

- How much ? he insisted.

- Does it matter ?
