Karkat’s  POV

“GRRRRR! YOU GOT A HEAD START!” Dave laughed and dusted off the lawn chairs. I calm down a bit and question his actions, “What are you doing?”

“Sit.” I do what he says and sit down in the chair.

“Why did you bring me here?”

“It’s something special to me and I wanted to bring you. It was a place to escape Bro and waited for Roxy to pick me up before I moved out. I come here every week to make sure nothing happend to it. If something does I re-purchase or repair it.”

“Awe, Dave you didn’t have t-”

“No, this place means a lot to me and so do you so why no have them together?” I chuckle and nod.

“Speaking of Roxy and everything, without the assassin job how are you going to pay for the house?”

“Easy, I picked up a small job and then I asked for a promotion at the club, which I got, and yeah! Not making as much but it’s enough to take care of the house and myself.” I nod fiddling with my thumbs a bit.

“Mom moved out the other day.”

“Damn….”

“It’s empty without her there but Dad is doing well. He is keeping Nepeta and Meulin’s room up incase they stay over. Kankri is moving with with Cronus in their own mini apartment so it’s just me and Dad.”

“Shit man, I would as if you still wanted to stay with us but I don’t wanna leave your old man by himself”

“Yeah, but I’m turning 18 soon so I can ask him around that time.”

“Or we can ask about it once I take you back home…”

“I mean…” Would he let me? Everyone is leaving him…. Dave lives five minutes away so I can visit him any time. He likes Dave but he’d ask to meet the house first…. He never sleeps so Dave can just ask everyone to stay up… “We can but he’d ask to see the house like, tonight, or well morning here soon.” He sighs and nods.

“It’s fine for me. Everyone stays up late so it’s no big deal… You wanna go so we can get there early?” I nod standing up like he does, grabbing for his hand again which he gladly gives, intertwining our fingers. He kisses my cheek and I look up at him.

“You missed.”

“What?”

“You. Missed.”

“Geez, sorry my prince.” He leans down and captures my lips. I smile brightly at him as we continue to walk to the car. One we reach the dock to get out of the sand we wash our feet in the water spout thing. We hop into the car not bothering to dry our feet. Once he turns over the key I look at the time, 12:27 am. Not a bad time to head back.

   We park in front of my house. I get out and knock on the door. No later did it slowly open showing my dad’s face. “Oh Karkat! I though prom ended at 11?”

“It did but Dave wanted to take me somewhere.” He looks back at Dave and nods.

“Ah! Okay! Well-” Dave cuts him off.

“Sorry for cutting you off but we have a question.”

“I accept your apology, please proceed.”

“Well me and Karkat have been talking for a while and he wants to see if he can live with me and my crew.” I look up at my dad with pleading eyes.

“Pleeeeeeeease! He’s only five minutes away on foot so I can visit you anytime!” My dad thinks for a moment and looks back up at Dave.

“I’d like to see your house and the people in it.”

“That’s not a problems they will all be up. One may be a sleep but that’s normal” Dad nods as us three walk to the car. I take the passenger seat letting my dad talk to Dave. I put my earbuds in not wanting to barge in on the conversation.
