*Octavia's POV*

I got to school Wednesday and yesterday Melo never talked to me once. He smiled at me a few times but never said anything. In the morning on Wednesday I got my stuff ready for first hour. Then my name came on, on the speaker to come to the office. I looked over at Melo, who's locker is just down the hall. He looked at me worried too. I walked to the office and went in. "Call your parents," the secretary told me.
"Can I call my brother?" I asked.
"Mom or dad," she told me.
"My dad died," I shrugged.
"Mother then," she told me. I nodded and called her. She didn't answer though, Steve did. Shit. "Yah??" he answered.
"Is mom awake?" I asked.
"Octavia?" he laughed, "No, what the hell you want??"
"Mom needs to come to the school..."
"I'll be there," he told me, I could hear the anger in his voice.
"No it has to be mom," I told him.
"I don't give a shit I'll be there," then he hung up. I saw Melo come in and I looked at him sad. He walked over. "What's going on?" he asked.
"I don't know," I sighed, "I think it's my last day."
"Oh," he sighed, "Call Jonah please. Tell him to come..."
"What's his number?" he asked. I gave it to him and sat down, tapping my foot. Melo did what I asked, walking out of the office Then he came back in. He sat next to me and took my hand in his. "Who's coming?" he asked.
"Step dad," I sighed.

Steve came in and Jonah wasn't here yet. I was pretty nervous. "What's going on?" he asked the principal.
"You have missed your last three payments," he told Steve, "We need them or she cannot attend this school anymore."
"How much?" Steve asked. The principal told him and Steve laughed. "No she aint need to go here," Steve looked at me, "Let's go!"
"Not till Jonah gets here," I shook my head.
"I said let's go!" Steve raised his voice. I went to get up but Melo wouldn't let me. "She said she's waiting till Jonah gets here," Melo told him.
"What?" Steve looked at him, then walked to us. He grabbed my forearm and pulled me up. He was stronger than Melo. I groaned a little in pain and sighed. Then Jonah got here. "Let her go!" Jonah walked over. Steve let go with a push, making me stumble a little. By now, with all the commotion, a good amount of students were watching at the window of the office. Jonah and my dad started to argue and Steve grabbed me again, yanking me towards the door. Then Jonah hit him... Before I knew it the police were here pulling them apart and putting them in handcuffs. "What am I going to do?" I cried into Melos chest.
"Shhh,"he told me, rubbing my back, "Shhh..."
