Louis’ P.O.V
She had her note pad in her handbag like she always had back in Doncaster. She would write down what she wanted to say instead of actually saying it. I had always just thought that was the way she was I never asked her why she never spoke, and she never offered an explanation. It was just a silent agreement that it was the way she was. I hadn’t really told Jay about Marie, never thought I would have to, she was a friend from the past and a friend only so what was the big deal anyway?
She gave me the biggest smile I’d seen in a long time when I told her about the babies, she seemed curious about everything that had to do with my life. It was great seeing her after so long. Hard to believe that I had almost forgotten about her with my new busy life and all, I felt ashamed to say that I’d never thought about being in touch with her until now. I silently wondered whether my mum had heard from her before she’d made contact with me. I should ask her one day soon.
I was interrupted by her hand rested upon my shoulder, so I turned to face her. She scribbled something onto her pad and eagerly handed it over the table for me to read.
It said: I miss you so much.
I sighed, did she think this was more than what it was? I sure hope not. I hated that this wasn’t school anymore and I couldn’t just pass her a note back I had to verbally respond to this note.
“Missed you too Marie.” I told her. She leaned over towards me and pecked me on the lips. I had no idea whether it was just a friendly thing or whether she wanted more from me. I was scared at the thought of finding out.
Luckily for me my phone started ringing before I had a chance to react to the kiss.
“Hello?” I answered as quickly as I could.
“Hey baby.” Jay answered me back.
“Hey you, how’s my boys?” I asked. She laughed before responding.
“They are good, but hey I think Connor is almost saying Mummy.” She giggled again.
“No way, there is no way that our sons are going to say Mummy before they say daddy.” I exclaimed in a mocking tone of disbelief. I looked over to Marie for a second to see what she was doing. She looked a bit upset, which hurt me a bit but what could I do? I was married after all.
“So when will you be back?” she asked me.
“I’ll be back as soon as I can.”
“Okay bye love you.”
“I love you too.” I ended the call and turned back to Marie.
“Sorry can’t stay much longer, my wife needs some help with the boys.” I lied, but I guess she did need my help, she needed me to teach then daddy instead of mummy!
