Chapter 11

The next day I was up and ready to go buzzing with excitement, with my union jack suit case and team GB bag waiting by the front door all ready. My dad has secretly invited a few of my family members and friends over to give me a great send off. Everyone was taking photos of me in my team GB kit and it was nice to see my dad smiling and not stressing about work. Ever since I woke up this morning at 6 because I was so excited he had been saying how proud he was of me and if my mum was here she would be so proud of me too. Everyone was making me feel so special I just hope I don’t let them down.

Kat was arriving at 10 to pick me up and drive us to the pool where all of the team were meeting before we were all driving together to the village. “Just before you for go May… I would just like to say how proud am of you I can’t believe my daughter an Olympic athlete!” dad beamed and everyone clapped. “Thanks dad I will try and make you all proud” I smiled “No matter where you come, you have made it to the Olympics we are so proud of you for doing that” “Thanks Dad” I said while pulling him into a massive hug. “I love you May, you will always be my little girl” “I love you too dad… now stop you are going to make me cry” I laughed. “Sorry” he smiled. I gave all of my family and friends big hugs too as we all said good bye but my last goodbye was saved for my best friend. “Come here” she smiled and pulled me into a massive hug “Promise to call me like you promised” she said into my ear “I promise Stace, I’m gonna miss you” “I’m gonna miss you too at least I am seeing you in your mixed event and individual event I’ll be the one crazy girl clapping my head off with the big flag in the audience” she smiled. I laughed “I will look out for you”. The doorbell went I pulled away Stace and my dad opened the door to a smiling Kat. My dad pulled Kat into a surprising hug and said how thankful he was for all she had done for me. “You ready to go Kido?” “Yeah” I screamed. I said one final good bye to everyone then sung my bag over my shoulder and pulled my case towards Kat’s car. I loaded all of my stuff into the boot then sat in the front with Kat. As we drove away I waved to everyone back home and screamed a little. “I can’t believe I am going to the Olympic village today” I beamed “I am so proud of you May just remember to keep you focus and don’t let the pressure get to you” “Thanks for that Kat I was just beginning to forget that part” “Sorry but it’s true Kido”. I smiled and my phone buzzed *1 new message from Tom Tom Daley* ‘We’re going to the Olympics Kido! Already at the pool with Andy no one else is here yet where are you? Save me from another pet talk with Andy pleassseeeeeee ;) xxx’

I clicked reply ‘On my way with Kat should be 5 mins max London 2012 HERE WE COME! Xxx J’

Kat parked her car and we walked over to the mini bus where Tom and Andy were standing. I laughed to myself as I saw Tom looking as if he was in a daydream as Andy was talking to him. He suddenly zooned out of his daydream and he caught my gaze and a grin appeared on his face. “Morning Daley” I said as we approached them “Morning Kido” he said as he pulled me into a massive hug. “Today is the day we begin to really count down the days” he smiled  “Yep all of our training, hard work all comes down to this” “It’s going to be wicked!”… “Andy take a photo of us” Tom asked and gave his phone to Andy “Take one on mine too please” I said and got my phone out of my pocket and passed it to him. Tom put his arm around my waist and we smiled “Okay say cheese” “Chesse” “Nice there you both go” he smiled and passed back our phones. It was a really nice picture of us we were both smiling in our GB kit I was going to keep this photo for ever to remind me that I actually was at London 2012. Mine phone buzzed as I got a new twitter mention. *@TomDaley1994 me and @MayTierney_xo ready for the Olympics bring on #LONDON2012  # Excited J* I retweeted it I looked over at Tom and he was smiling “How did you do that that quick” “What can I say I have skills” he laughed and I gently hit him.

After everyone had arrived we all piled on to the bus and made our way to the village. Once we arrived everyone was buzzing with excitement. We had a quick look around the pool again and the whole village. We spoke to a few of the other athletes from all over the world and they all seemed really nice. We also meet Mo Farah and got our picture taken with him, he was such a nice guy I have a feeling he is going to do well at these games.

 Our rooms were amazing our GB apartments had union jack balconies, with Olympic bedding. Me and Katie had put up all of our good luck messages on the walls of our room and had a few photos of our family and friends, but in the middle of all of them we put a picture we had taken when we got out GB kit, it was of the whole diving team and we all looked so happy as we were all smiling. When I put that photo up I knew this wasn’t a dream it was reality.
