Chapter 18

I woke up with a banging head ache. It felt like a drum was stuck in my head constantly beating it was that bad. I groaned and sat up slowly in bed. I slowly opened my eyes and I realised Katie’s bed was empty I remembered last night pretty well though; I remember Tom talking to Tonia and her saying she would crash at Kat’s. And when I told him I loved him and he hadn’t believed me, he thought it was because I was pissed but that wasn’t the case. I meant every word. I walked over to my bag and took some paracetamol then sat back on my bed and reached over to the table to grab my phone.  It was 7:30 so I decided to have a shower and get changed. I tied my hair up in a high ponytail then I couldn’t resist it any longer I had to text him.

‘Um hey I don’t really know how to say this but I need you to know I meant what I said last night I love you xxx  ♥’

I locked my phone and slid it into my pocket. Oh God maybe I shouldn’t of texted him I’ve made a right fool out of myself haven’t I, I should have waited until I saw him person why did I even text him. I decided to get ready as that would hopefully take my mind off it. I wasn’t competing today so I applied on some make up when my phone buzzed. I unlocked it hoping it was Tom that had replied but it was Tonia.

‘Hey how’s your head this morning? ;)  Katie is at mine and Rebecca’s  she slept on the sofa everyone is meeting for breakfast at 8 met us there yeah usual spot J xxx’

I replied

‘Heyaa yeah sounds great and so sore :S but I’ll live see you in a min xx’

I check my inbox and he still hadn’t replied. Maybe his phone was out of charge or something or maybe he didn’t feel the same way. I made my way down for breakfast passing Chris Hoy on the way and I asked for a photo and he congratulated me for my medal I totally fangirled. He was so nice and down to earth I couldn’t believe I had met him! He was such an inspiration, I hope one day I will be remembered like him as an athlete.  As I entered the food hall I saw pretty much the whole team sitting down, I went over to the food and grabbed an apple and some Weetabix then as I was about to make my way over I felt something enter my pocket. I quickly turned around to be faced with Tom. I gave him a look he reached over my shoulder and he grabbed an apple for himself. I was so confused he must have noticed; he nodded indicating my pocket, then he smiled and walked back over to the others. They hadn’t seem to notice I was here yet so I walked over to get a cup of tea. I set my tray down then put my hand in my pocket and pulled out a small piece of paper; I unfolded it and began to read it

A grin appeared on my face as I put my tea on my tray then walked over to the team. I set my tray down next to Katie who had her head face down on the table. Tom was on the over side of the table as I sat down I looked at him and as our eyes met I noticed he was grinning too. “Morning” Jack smiled “Morning guys” “Hey how’s your head?” Tonia asked “A little better I took some paracetamol before I left” “Oh my God May have you being the bestest friend ever got any on you” Katie groaned and sat up “Katie you look awful” I said I didn’t mean to say it , it just slipped out everyone laughed. “Thanks” “Oh shit sorry I didn’t mean it like that and here” I said and pulled out some tablets from my pocket and handed them to her. “Thank you so much” she said and hugged me tight “It’s ok now please let me go before I suffocate” she let go of me and took the tablets. I began to eat my apple and then I remembered Stace and Chris last night. Chris was texting and because he sitting opposite me I whispered over to him “Hey so you and Stace then?” I winked he looked up and I pointed to his phone “I saw you last night anyway you couldn’t keep away from each other you make such a cute couple” “you think so thanks I really like her” he blushed a little “You both deserve someone great so you make a perfect match” I smiled “That means a lot, you know for the baby of the team you’re not bad for talking to and understanding people, your always smiling and wanting the best for people I think that’s why you always get on with everyone and why everyone loves you” “Wow thanks Chris no one has ever really anything like that about me before thank you, you’re a great friend” I smiled and took another bite of my apple. He smiled, and then we both joined in with the others conversation.  A few times I looked up and saw Tom looking at me when he noticed I was looking he would look down and blush a bit. He was just so cute.
