Chapter 38 *The End*

Chapter 38

I was young again it was my first diving lesson.

“Dad please don’t make me go, I don’t know anyone and I can’t even dive” I begged my dad. “Come on sweet heart you’ll enjoy it once your there and you are bound to make loads of new friends”. I was standing outside the girls changing rooms begging my dad not to make me go, I was scared to death I was never very good at making new friends, I was that one shy quiet girl who would barely talk to anyone unless I knew them. He kissed my head and nudged me closer to the door “I’ll be watching from the seats and I bet your enjoy once you’re in there” he smiled “ok dad” I said he pulled me into a hug. I walked into the changing rooms and found myself a spot to get changed at. There were about 5 other girls in there all with their mums helping them get changed. “I wish I had someone to do that” I mumbled.

Once I was changed I made my way out to the poolside and joined the group of kids about my age on the bench by the diving pool. I sat on the edge of the bench and waited for the coach to arrive. I noticed a few of the girls giggled and whispering so I thought I would introduce myself at least try and make friends “Hi I’m May, I’m new” I smiled, they just gave me a horrible look and carried on talking amongst themselves. I chose to ignore it then our coach arrived she began talking and introduced me to the rest of the group and told us what we were doing today “So we are going to start on the one meter and then up to the 3 meter then maybe…” she was interrupted by a boy about my height wondering in casually as if he owned the place. “Tom you’re late again!” she said sternly “Sorry Kat” he smiled cheekily. The only space which was left was a small one next to me on the end of the bench he smiled and sat down. Once Kat was finished talking we made our way to the 1 meter. I looked up at the 10 meter and thought how much adrenaline and such a buzz you must get from diving off there. That’s what I want to do. I was zoned out of my trance by the boy “Hi I’m Tom Daley want to be friends” he said innocently “Yeah ok” I smiled “You see them boards up there, the 10 meter, that’s my dream to dive from off there for Great Britain in the Olympics one day” he smiled to himself as if he was imaging it. “Same I want to be a diver too” “I guess we have a lot in common then”  “May and Tom concentrate do you want to repeat what I just said?” Kat said we both shock our heads and said sorry.

I was suddenly not there I was in darkness, a sharp pain suddenly appeared in my stomach as the darkness was becoming brighter the pain was getting worse. I tried to feel around, to blink but my eye lids were too heavy. I began to start hear things the sound of beeping and whispering. I was finally able to open my eyes a little, my fission was blurry but I could make out where I was. Everything was coming back to me, my mum ,gun shot, Tom. I was in hospital. The pain was still in my stomach but It was much better. I blinked a few times then I looked at the person holding my hand stroking it. I moved my hand and his head instantly shot up “May” he smiled “Hey” I said weakly, he leant over and kissed my head “How are you feeling?” he asked “A little sore” I admitted. “I’ll go get a nurse be back in one sec” he smiled and he left the room. He soon re appeared with a smiling nurse, Tom sat back down next to me and the nurse checked my bloods and the heart monitor. “Are you swore?” she asked I nodded “yeah” “Ok I go get some pain killers” she smiled. Tom and I both nodded and she left us alone. “Where’s Dad and your mum?” I asked “I told them I would stay while they went home and got some sleep” he smiled “thank you” I whispered “What for?” “For everything you saved my life, Tom you helped me through this I would be here without you” I smiled. “Anyone else would of done the same” “Tom but it was you! I love you so much” “I love you too” “Let’s not look back on the past but to the future, our future together we have so much a head, World championships , Rio 2016…” and before I could finish I was broke off by the love of my life kissing me and it felt so good. From then on I knew my life was perfect.
