Chapter 31
After a few moments of awkwardness Debby broke it “Ah here he is” Debby smiled. “what are you doing here?” he finally said “It was mine and your mum’s idea you both have seemed down recently and I had to come round anyway to fix the sink so I thought I’d bring May along” I looked down at my hands. His expression on his face was one I hadn’t seen before I was like, happy, sad, confused all at the same time. God did I feel like an idiot. “Did you know about this?” he asked. This was so awkward, I just wanted to leave. Then I realised he was talking me. I shook my head “No” I whispered. “Come on you two, you can both stop this little argument you’ve had and be friends again” “Dad keep out” I warned “Ok come on Debby do you want to show me that sink that needs fixing, maybe we should leave you both to it” dad said. “Na it’s ok come on May let’s sort this out upstairs, the sink which needs fixing is in here”. Typical. To be honest I just wanted to say in here with Debby and Dad at least then, he couldn’t do anything drastic. I looked at my dad with a begging look. He nodded. Fuck “Sure” I said and he held the kitchen door open for me I smiled weakly and walked out and up the stairs towards his room.
As we got upstairs I heard the sound of voices they were probably Ben and his friend playing the x box or something. I walked into Tom’s room and stood awkwardly in the corner. His bedroom hadn’t changed he still had the union jack bedcover and the same photos up of the diving team and the small desk in the corner. “You can sit down if you want” he said and indicated his bed. “Thanks” I mumbled and sat down next to him. I looked down at my hands awkwardly. “So are you gonna start or shall I?” he asked I shrugged. “Ok I’m just gonna ask …why?” he asked “I told you…It can’t work” I whispered “May don’t give me that Bull” he laughed “What do you mean?” “oh come on is it someone else? Do I know them? I bet I do is it someone at the centre right? “Tom what are you going on about here is no one else” I said sternly. “Then why did you suddenly not like me. One thing you say you love me the next you think it’s for the best that we break up” “Tom.” “What May What?” he shouted “I do love you” I whispered. “Then why did you end it, I never wanted it to end” “Because I had too” “Come on look at me, you’ve barely looked at me since I’ve got here” “Do you wanna know why that is Tom?” I said and looked at him in the eyes. I could feel tears already forming in my eyes “Because when I look at you my heart skips a beat. Tom. When I look at you I instantly want you back. Tom I can’t describe this feeling you give me, and ever since I broke it off with you it feels like a part of me is missing I know it sounds cheesy but it’s true.” I felt the tears from my eyes begin to fall. “Tom…” I trailed but before I could his lips crashed against mine. My mind was telling me to pull away, but my heart was telling me the complete opposite. For once I went with my heart I didn’t pull away. I closed my eyes as the kiss became more passionate. A strand of my hair fell in front of my face before I could move it. Tom tucked it behind my ear and smiled into the kiss, I couldn’t help but return it. He gently pushed me backwards so I fell back on to his bed. I pulled him down so he fell with me. “I love you” he mumbled “I love you too” he suddenly sat up. My heart was racing so fast I thought it was going to explode I sat up next to him and let my breathing return to normal. He pulled me into his chest and kissed my head gently. I listened to his heart this probably sounds weird but it was kinda comforting.
