Just a quick little AN here before you get started. No, this is not fully edited and updated, however if you've read this before you might be able to tell that this chapter is. I am reposting all of the chapters that were posted previously all the way to book three because I know so many people enjoyed this series, and it's unfair to take it away. I promise I'm working as fast as I can to finish the rest of this, but it's taking longer than I expected. All three books are finished, and just need editing. Thank you all for being patient with me, and I hope I can get back into writing consistently again real soon.
On with the story!
The Sky Army's Defeat- Prologue
Defeated, failure, looser, lonely, broken and many other words could describe how the general of Sky Army felt as he stood amongst the carnage of his ever waning recruits defending their homes.
The Squid Army, the general's greatest enemy, attacked deep in the night, mercilessly killing many of the Sky Army's unarmed recruits and families.
They attacked with an unnatural speed and strength, bringing down and captivating thousands of recruits at a time and overwhelming the large base.
The general had no idea how to stop the seemingly never ending onslaught of cephalopods and humanoids that had broken down the walls of his base. He was in such shock at first that the attack seemed to be a dream for the first crucial moments. Then, reality hit when one of the humanoid monsters nearly sliced his neck, and he quickly got to work.
He had tried fighting, desperately trying to save his base and army from destruction, but as the fight went on, he was forced to call for retreat. His people were more important than their land.
But that didn't stop the headlong charge of the marine creatures, oh heavens no, that only encouraged them to continue their merciless siege of the army.
Sky Army ran and ran, rapidly growing smaller and smaller as squids ambushed them left and right.
The general soon realized, there was no hope for his army. As much as he wanted to keep fighting, his will to keep his recruits alive was much stronger, so he called for surrender. He approached the charging army and gave himself over, allowing them to restrain him as the fighting paused for everyone to witness the surrender.
But then, the squids continued on, killing and kidnapping every recruit around the general as all he could do was watch and struggle in the grasp of his captors.
After the last of the recruits had been taken, the squids swarmed the general, eyes full of vengeance and hatred. Their anger fueled by the countless years of the general's seemingly unfair and unexplained slaughter of their people.
The general, filled with grief, dropped his sword to the ground at his side and watched Evan, the King of the Squids, a nasty squid humanoid that had deep blue eyes, curly black hair, and broad shoulders attached to a chest as sturdy as a wall, walk in front of him.
The victorious king looked the general up and down, before motioning to one of his soldiers.
The general felt a tentical wrap around his wrist and pull his arm down roughly, a sign to him that he was to submit publicly.
Despite his pride, he kneeled in front of the king, who smirked down at him, tenticals swaying from his back.
"Finally, we have defeated the great, Skydoesminecraft!" It cheered, raising it's arms into the air as the many cheers of his followers rose up following his declaration.
The defeated general closed his eyes as their victorious ranting washed over him and let his tears flow free. There was no need to salvage his pride anymore. His recruits probably wouldn't ever see him again anyway, and his enemies were too high from their victory to care.
He allowed himself to be dragged off across his land to the nearest ocean, a potion of water breathing being dumped onto his head before he was forced under the water.
The potion took a moment to take affect, and once it did, it left Adam gasping for air as the water rushed past him. He flailed weakly in the grasp of the squids in a half-assed attempt to escape before he was brought through the large gates of the underwater castle, the guards smirking triumphantly at the sight of their fallen enemy.
Adam's tears that had fallen were mixed with the water on his face, and when the water turned to oxygen within the walls of the castle it was hard to tell if they were there, but the familiar queen that greeted the soldiers as they entered could read his sorrow.
"There's a special cell with your name on it, Sky. You might be our worst enemy, but we want you to be treated with the specialty you deserve. After all, you've earned your higher status, haven't you?" The Queen mused, her musical voice nearly drowning out Adam's attempts at escape.
He narrowed his eyes at her as the soldiers paused for a moment to let her speak. "Why am I not surprised you're married to my enemy? After all we went through. After having a kid together, you still chose him over me."
The siren queen gently ran her fingers through his hair. "You had an army to lead. Evan has much more time for me than you ever did. You cared more for them than you did me, or Mason. Here he's had an actual father, something you wouldn't know anything about," she snapped, her cold eyes gazing into the fallen general's. "Take him away."
Adam grit his teeth and roughly jerked against their hold, trying with no avail to go after the queen. "This isn't about us, so don't pretend it is! You're too busy kissing his ass to stop him!"
The iron door leading below the castle slammed behind him and he went limp with exhaustion, allowing the soldiers to toss him into the cell carelessly. He groaned as he pushed himself off the dirty floor, staring at the stone bricks below as he let his tears flow freely.
Sky Army was defeated. What did he have left?
