Sunlight shone over the hills behind Crystal Lake the next morning. The light cast its rays on the frozen lake, illuminating the immediate surroundings. Snow covered the ground surrounding the lake. It was as if an apocalyptic battle for the end of the world hadn't just taken place here!
Ash Williams opened his eyes and saw only white.
"Oh shit, I'm dead," he said solemnly. Then he felt the ice on his face. He lifted his head out of the ice and looked around. Then, his thoughts drifted to Carrie. He looked around for her and didn't see anything.
"Carrie!" Ash yelled.
"Ash," she said. "I'm stuck!" She was lying a few yards away, stuck under a fallen tree branch. Ash got up and dashed towards her. He began lifting the log with all his strength. Finally, it budged enough for Carrie to crawl out of it. He then dropped the log. Carrie lay on her back in the snow. She lifted her head. Ash cradled her and pulled a jacket over her shivering form.
"Is it over?" Carrie asked. "Are Freddy and Jason really gone?"
"I don't know, Carrie." Ash responded. "The Deadites seem to keep coming back no matter what I do. How's the arm?
"I'll live. It's only a flesh wound."
"Well that's good news!" Ash said.
"Hello! Carrie, Ash? Are you guys out there? HELP!"
"David!" Carrie screamed! She jumped up and turned towards the lake; a few yards out, David was visible from the torso up!
"Hang on!" Carrie shouted, limping towards David's stuck form.
"Don't worry, David. We'll get you outta there!" Ash said.
"Hurry up, guys! This water is freezing."
Carrie grabbed David's arms and pulled! David came free of the ice with a plop and landed like a fish on the frozen surface!
Carrie grabbed David and pulled him close to her body. David took a deep breath and relaxed as he felt Carrie's warm breath on his frozen neck.
"Carrie," David said.
"What, David?" Carrie asked.
"I think..." David coughed. "...this has to be the second worst Christmas I've ever had."
Carrie let out a small giggle and held David tighter. David leaned in and planted a kiss on Carrie's cheek. She smiled, and returned the favor, directly on David's lips.

A few minutes later, the trio was back at the Voorhees mansion. Ash loaded the back of Marcus' Mustang with all of the stuff he had left, which didn't amount to much more than his shotgun, his new chainsaw, and one bag of clothes. He was currently wearing the leather jacket Marcus had been wearing, seeing as how he would no longer be needing it...
Otherwise, Ash figured he would stop by and grab a few more clothes and supplies from the S-Mart before leaving town; he was pretty sure nobody would notice or care.
But on top of it all, he didn't even have his trusty Oldsmobile anymore! Talk about a bummer...
On the plus side, though: sweet new ride!
"Do you really have to go, Ash?" David asked as Ash tossed his guitar case into the trunk with a heavy sigh.
"Guys, I really wish I could stay, but that's not a life I can lead anymore," Ash said as he closed the trunk.
"But the Necronomicon is gone!" David argued.
"For now," Ash countered. "But I know that book just as well as I know myself, and until I can destroy it for good, it'll keep coming back until either it or myself is dead!" Ash shook his head glumly, adding, "No matter where I go, the Deadites always turn up to make my life Hell. They find people I care about and use them to hit me where it hurts the most. I'm not about to put you kids through that."
Ash walked around to the driver's door, pulled out Marcus' sunglasses out of his jacket, put them on, and hopped in. The engine started, and the Mustang's window rolled down. Ash stuck his head out the window as if to add something important.
"I'll see ya when I see ya, I guess." Ash said coolly as he gunned the engine and fishtailed on the ice and snow. The taillights disappeared into the trees and the engine faded away.
"So now what?" David asked as they turned towards the Voorhees house and walked back to the van. "We just saved the world from the apocalypse, but nobody's ever going to know, we're probably out of the job, and we didn't even get a stupid t-shirt for our trouble!"
"Well, we could go home and have sex!" Carrie laughed.
"With Raoul's corpse still in the apartment?" David asked.
"Eww... Yeah, no," Carrie answered.
"We're not getting out security deposit back, are we?"
"Nope!"
The two finally arrived back at the van and got into the seat. David pulled the keys out of his pocket and turned the ignition. The van turned over and David waited for the heater to start blowing. "I guess we should probably call 911, let them know about Raoul."
"On it," Carrie said. She opened the center console, looking for Jarvis's phone, but instead saw an overstuffed leather wallet. "Hey, whose is this?" she asked.
"Not mine," David answered. Carrie opened the wallet, and her jaw dropped!
"Holy shit! David! " Carrie squealed. "There's gotta be at least $5000 in here."
"What? You're shitting me?" David grabbed the wallet and pulled out a fat stack of hundreds. A note slipped out with it; Carrie picked it up and read it.
Merry Christmas, kiddos!
"It's from Ash!" Carrie said.
"Is it his wallet?"
"I don't know," Carrie looked through it. "There's no ID or anything."
David finished counting the money and turned to Carrie. "Yeah, $5600 cash!" David turned to look at the Voorhees house; a thought suddenly crossed his mind. "Hey, you don't suppose...?"
Carrie caught what David was selling; "I'm not going in there to see!"
David chuckled and stuffed the bills back into the wallet. He drove the van away from the Voorhees house and out to the main road. Once there, David stopped at the intersection and looked both ways, but didn't turn onto the road.
"David? Carrie asked. "What are you thinking?"
David looked over at Carrie. "You've always wanted to go to New York City, right?"
Carrie smiled smugly in response as David grabbed her hand. She closed her own hand tightly around his as David gunned the accelerator! Snow was slung from under the tires as the bus flew out onto the road!

I didn't realize it at the time, but now it all seems so clear. I came to Crystal Lake by coincidence, or so I thought. But it wasn't a random transfer that brought me here.
It was fate.
I was destined to save the world from the terrors of the Deadites. I was destined to track down the Necronomicon and stop ancient monsters from entering our world and plaguing the living.
But what I didn't realize at the time was that the Necronomicon itself was changing reality to bring me here! I think it was afraid of what Freddy would do with the Kandarian power scribbled away in its bloody pages and was doing everything within its power to make sure I stopped him!
No doubt, there was a part of it hoped that I would be killed in the crossfire. But, in the end, the monsters and the book were banished to the dreaded dimension of the Deadites, the Evil Dead!
Serves 'em right, if you ask me!
So what does this mean for the future of yours truly? I have not a clue. I guess I'm gonna spend the rest of my life tracking slaughtering Deadites and hunting down that damned book!
But for right now, that just leaves me and my Boomstick. It's not exactly a fairy tale ending, but it's good enough for me.
After all, it's good to be King...
