Still Waiting (Kageyama x Female!Reader) PART 1

 9 years old

You sat underneath the shadow of the huge oak tree above you as the leaves said goodbye to their stems and fell around you. Reading your book in peace, you were flicking through the translucent pages one by one, as you began becoming more heavily interested in the thicken plot, making you read faster and faster in hope to reach the climax sooner. While others climbed to the highest point of trees and swing down zip wires, you would simply just read and dream. Visualise the world differently from others.

In Tranquility.

"(F/N)- chan!" You hastily looked up from your worn-out book and raised your eyebrow at your cheeky and smiley friend.

"What is it, Fia?" You lazily said while Fia sat down next you on her knees and eagerly analysed the book you were holding.

"What book are you reading?" You indicated to the book and she nodded excitedly.

" It's a book that came out recently."

She looked at the book intricately. "watashi chi... watashi..."

"Watashi, chisai! You really need to work on your hiragana!" You scolded back at her as she gave you a dejected look.

"Hey. I'm not the worse at Hiragana! There's a boy who sits next to me in class who barely gets over 10% in tests." Fia explained trying to make her look good in front you. "Wait! That's him right there!"

"You mean the one holding that volleyball?"

Looking to where she was pointing, you saw a small boy, probably in a grade lower than you throwing the ball in the air before catching it again with his knees bent and with one of his hands. He was wearing a light blue shirt that a picture of a lion on the front that was matched with his khaki green shorts and white trainers to complete the look. His hair was jet black and wasn't too spiky but light enough for a small breeze to lift it. You noticed the serious look he was wearing.

"He seems ... intense?"

"He is. Especially when it comes to volleyball." Fia scoffed as if she wasn't impressed but you knew she was.

"What's his name?" You asked, watching you friend pick herself on to her feet.

"Kageyama- kun."

"Kageyama..." You mumbled to yourself sweetly, not noticing Fia growing her signature smirk on her face.

"Let's go up to him." Before you could deny the offer she quickly took your hand and pulled you towards the playground.

As you approached the raven-haired boy, his structure stiffened once seeing the two of you strolling towards him with Fia grinning the biggest smile and waving at him while you just tried to avoid eye-contact out of pure embarrassment. "Fia- san?"

"Kageyama- kun. We just wanted to say to hi to you." The boy glanced at you which made you took several small steps back. Fia laughed. "This is..."

They stared at you, waiting for one single word

"(L/N)."

It's been two years since you and Kageyama have officially met and surprisingly, you two have become really good friends, along with Fia of course. You thought that since you weren't very athletic that you wouldn't be interesting enough for him but he ended up enjoying hearing about the stories you told him and you liked helping him with volleyball, even if you weren't very good at it.
