Hoseok and Jimin carried Yoongi's body through the dark, cold passages within the walls. Both of the magic beings were invisible to humans, but Hoseok cast a spell on Yoongi's limp body to confuse any guards who might've seen them dragging the king around.
It took them almost an hour to drag Yoongi out of the palace grounds, another half hour to dragged him into the woods, and a few more to get him into their homeland.
Fireflies lighted the underground tunnel that led them home. The night was so quiet that the only sound the two could hear was Yoongi's feet dragging against the ground.
"You owe me, big time." Hoseok teased, stifling yet another yawn.
"Always do," said Jimin, looking at his friend with a smile as the two finally reached the witch's wooden hut. Hoseok murmured an enchantment under his breath and the door swung open, hitting the wall with a loud bang.
Hoseok, too exhausted to keep holding up Yoongi for much longer, left the task of carrying him into the house to Jimin.
"Lay him down on the couch, I'll get some more potions brewing while we wait for him to wake up," he ordered Jimin.
The latter did as told, carefully accommodating the two pillows on the couch under Yoongi's head. Although it had only been around two hours since Hoseok had given Yoongi the tonic, he already looked so much better. He didn't look like he was in pain, he looked peaceful.
'He won't look as peaceful once you tell him,' Jimin's brain told him, the thought pulling at his heartstrings.
He mustn't've been masking his emotions too well, because Hoseok was soon to give him a hesitant back hug, though he tightened his arms around Jimin slightly when the latter leaned into the touch.
"I've been telling myself that I'd be willing to do anything to save him," Jimin said. "And I would. I know that he might not... accept me. I've thought about the different outcomes, and I promised myself that if that came to be, I'd erase the memories he had from me or modify them somehow."
Jimin blinked back the tears that threatened to fall out and dug his nails into his hands before continuing. "B-but now that I see him lying there, now that I think about the possibility of Yoongi forgetting about me... It hurts more than I thought it would."
Hoseok doesn't have an answer, because, what could he possibly say that would make Jimin feel better? What can you say to someone who loves so dearly that they're willing to get their heart broken just for the sake of their lover?
They spent the rest of the night in silence, Jimin nestled up by Yoongi's side, barely able to conceive sleep. He'd give Yoongi sleeping tonic mixed with purple herbs to dwindle down the pain whenever the human would stir and whine in his sleep.
"I'm here, Yoongi, don't worry. I'll take care of you," Jimin whispered, planting chaste kisses on the older's forehead and temples.
The witch soon fell asleep, leaving Jimin to take care of Yoongi by himself, which, as sleep deprived as he was, he did't mind. Knowing it could be the last time he'd be holding Yoongi in his arms, Jimin decided he should savor every second he had.
And so the hours went by. The sun soon rose, and the flowers Jimin loved so much had stoped glowing and closed into themselves again. Hoseok dragged himself out of his room and shielded his eyes from the sunlight filtering through the dirty circular window in the room.
"Morning, Flower. How are you holding up?" He asked, trudging his feet towards the pink haired fairy. Jimin squinted up at the witch and tried to rub the sleep off his eyes.
"I'm good," Jimin muttered, asking himself if he had ever told a bigger lie to Hoseok. "He's only thrown up once in these past few hours, but he's still knocked out cold."
"It's to be expected," Hoseok answered, casting his eyes upon the half empty bottle of sleeping tonic sitting at the end of the ragged couch. "How much tonic did you give him?" Jimin did not answer.
The witch took a stool and slid it over to where the couple was and sat on it. "You can't give him anymore, Jimin. Postponing the moment of truth won't make the situation any easier."
Jimin sniffled and glanced at Yoongi with his puffy brown eyes, still, he didn't talk. All he did was nod.
There was a sudden knock at the door, and before either of them had a chance to rush to it, it swung open, revealing an extremely exhausted looking Jin. When he walked inside, he was barely able to keep his eyes open, but as soon as he saw Jimin and a strange man who looked barely alive resting by the fairy's side, his eyes shot open.
"Where have you been?!" Jin roared, stomping his way over to Jimin and kneeling by his side. He placed both of his hands on either side of Jimin's body and tightened his grasp on the younger fairy. He pulled Jimin in for a hug but let go almost immediately.
"And who is this? I've never seen him around the forest before..." He narrowed his eyes and let go of Jimin to examine Yoongi. It took him a moment to realize that Jimin's fingers were laced with the stranger's, and only that, he also wore a ring with an green emerald in the center.
He looked from Jimin to Yoongi a few times and jumped up, nearly knocking over Hoseok, who was still sitting on the stool. Jin paced around the room and sighed, rubbing his temples. "Please tell me he's not- he's not-"
"That's my cue to leave," Hoseok muttered, bolting towards the door and hastily wishing Jimin good luck before rushing outside. Jimin cursed Hoseok for mentally for leaving him alone with a Jin who looked on the edge of murdering him.
"I thought I'd told you to stay away from him!" Jin barks at the pink haired fairy. He tries to pull Jimin away from Yoongi, but fails miserably, for Jimin refused to let go of his lover's hand.
"This is why I didn't tell you anything. I knew you wouldn't even try to understand! If you'd just give me a chance to explain-"
"There is nothing to explain! You won't be able to hide the truth from him much longer, especially now that you've brought him here. Jimin, you're putting everyone here in danger by exposing us to the king. Do you have any idea of how selfish you're being?!" Jin spat at him, making Jimin's heart fall to his feet.
Jimin felt a lump rising in his throat. Ever since he was little, being nagged by Jimin was enough to make him cry. "I know that I can be selfish sometimes, but I would never, and I mean never, risk any of your lives." His voice was thick with emotion as he felt his eyes sting with tears. "And let me tell you something else. I love Yoongi, I've given up my heart to him and I'd do it again. But he needs our help. Look at him!"
He used his free hand point at Yoongi, who was breathing heavily, frowning and stirring. "I refuse to let him die, even if that means I have to give him up to someone else and erase the memories he has of me. I will do what needs to be done, so long as I can save him."
Jimin turned away form Jin, who was very much taken aback by Jimin's sudden burst of emotions. It wasn't odd for him and Jimin to argue, but they'd never argued like this.
An uncomfortable silence hung between the two fairies; it made Jimin feel like he was suffocating. Minutes went by before either of them spoke up. Jin was the first to talk.
"Do what you think is right," was all he said before walking out on Jimin.
