"Are you lost again Miss Gen?" A familiar voice spoke, the only voice I wanted to hear at this moment in time."Enjolras thank god!" I turned and threw my arms around him not thinking.
"Hello Gen" he spoke, a bit taken back by my gesture. I stayed in his embrace for a moment longer then stood back.
"Sorry" I apologised for leaping onto him.
"That's alright" He shyly looked at the ground, he obviously didn't mind it.
"I'm just glad to see you. I mean, not you. Well yes you. But not in that way. I mean I wanted to see a familiar face you know, because I do appear to be lost. But it's really good to see you." I stuttered trying to make myself look like I was completely calm and collected, but I wasn't at all. He made me nervous, I didn't know why... it was a good nervous but still the nerves shone through me clear as day.
"Good to see you too..." he blushed.
"So do know how I get out of here?" I awkwardly asked.
"Yes, c'mon I'll walk you home" he offered like last night, but with a bit more will in his voice.
"Thank you"
It was around seven o'clock now... supper would be ready and everyone would be wondering where I was.
"So what are you doing in town?" He asked as we began walking.
"Nothing really, I came with my brother but we fell out..." I tried to be as discrete as possible as Enjolras might recognise the story from Courf.
"You have a brother?" He questioned, his face had a slightly scared look on it.
"Yes, around your age actually..." I led him on.
"Really?" He nervously turned his head to look at the building we were passing.
We were starting to get back on to a familiar street, at top of it was were the bakery sat. I looked out the corner of my eye to see that Julien had just exited the bakery and began walking towards me.
"Genevieve! My dearest Genevieve!" He exclaimed his pace picking up as he started down the hill.
"Oh god" I stopped walking, and faced Enjolras.
"What? Is that the bakery boy?" He said with a slight dash of 'get lost' in his voice.
"Yes, he won't leave me alone! No matter how hard I try he just won't get the message! I don't want to be rude or harsh, but if I have to I-" I was stopped by Enjolras' lips crashing onto mine, straight away that warm fuzzy feeling came back again, only this time I could identify it. Warm... bright... electric... fire.
I put my arms around his neck and kissed him back, the world seemed to stop spinning and everything froze, except Enjolras.
He pulled back as I still remained in his arms. We were both slightly out of breath and balanced our foreheads against each other's.
"Genevieve is this man bothering you?!" An out of breath Julien approached us. I turned my head to look at Julien, still staying in Enjolras' embrace.
"No he's not Julien so if you'd please be on your way!" I lost my rag with him a bit, Julien pulled a shocked expression then ran away.
"Wow, where'd that come from little miss feisty!" Enjolras laughed still holding me. I turned back to face him and looked in his eyes, did he want to kiss me again as bad as I wanted to kiss him?
"We should probably get going" he turned his head away from me, why did he always do that?
"Yes, you're right" I replied as we broke apart.
We walked for around ten minutes not saying a word to each other, it was all building up. Why did he kiss me? Did he actually want to kiss me or was it a distraction? Was I falling in love with him after just one kiss?
"Enjolras..." I finally broke the silence that I could no longer bare, slowing down a bit.
"Yes?" He said, matching my slower walking pace.
"Uh... why, why did you kiss me?" I nervously asked, scuffing my feet.
"Em... because well, that Julien needed to get a clue that you weren't interested" he looked off in to the distance and held his hands behind his back.
"And since your words didn't get through to him... I thought that would" he continued, staring straight ahead.
"Why?" I think I knew why, but I wanted to see if he would give anything away that he didn't want to... like hidden feelings...
"Because if he saw you with another man then hopefully he would think you weren't available or interested" he said, moving his gaze down towards the pavement.
"I guess so" I agreed.
Walking home fell silent again. We walked and walked and walked just thinking about tonight. I tried to debate my emotions, I felt safe in his arms, I felt sparks when we touched and when we kissed... we kissed...
"This is me" I told him looking at my grand house.
"Yes, I remember" he cracked the slightest of smiles.
I wanted to kiss him again, but it was too soon... I barely know him, not to mention his odd personality.
"Oh well goodnight!" I turned around began walking towards the house.
"Genevieve wait" he called after me, making me stop in my tracks.
"I-I'm not really a ladies man ok? I've never really had time for them... I don't know what my feelings are for you, or you for me, but I know I can't give you what you want" he admitted, almost looking angry... at himself.
I felt sorry for him, I didn't know what to say, I began walking towards him and took one of his hands in mine.
"Goodnight, Enjolras" I perked up and gave him a soft kiss on the cheek, then took a step back, giving his hand a little squeeze before letting go and walking to my front door.
I don't need all Enjolras thinks I do, I think I need him.
