On October 1st, in the year 1989, forty-three women around the world gave birth. These women delivered forty-three extraordinary children into the world on the twelfth hour of that day. The strange thing about this occurrence was that none of the women had been pregnant before.
When billionaire and adventurer, Sir Reginald Hargreeves, heard about this strange news he decided to locate the women. His plan was to adopt as many of these forty-three children as possible. He got seven of them.
Hargreeves trained those seven children to fight like warriors. He also taught them how to control their special abilities. Collectively, they were known as The Umbrella Academy.
The Umbrella Academy went on to fight crime and "save the world," as Hargreeves liked to call it. Twenty-two years after the first public introduction of this elite team, Hargreeves passed away.
After the Umbrella Academy disbanded, another group of extraordinary children was created, but their work was much more sinister.
Many people still do not know what caused those forty-three women to suddenly become pregnant, or why their children acquired such unique powers. One thing is certain though, those forty-three children born on the twelfth hour of October first in 1989 weren't the only ones gifted, or cursed, with rare talents.
