The boy flattened out the uniform he was wearing and turned to face me. "Who are you?!"
I leaned on the wall behind me and tucked a strand of blonde hair behind my ear. "Alexa.. who are you?"
He breathed out a laugh and looked away, "Its complicated...

I kicked open the door to the Academy and held it for Diego and Alison as they carried Five inside.
"We should have taken him to the hospital," Alison spoke in a hushed tone.
"A kid with a shrapnel wound might raise some questions," Diego responded quietly as well.
"Yeah, well, so does the murder shrine in Harold Jenkins's attic," Alison muttered.
Both of them carried Five into the living room and laid him down on the couch.
"He's still losing a lot of blood. What do we do?" Alison asked.
"We gotta get the shrapnel out," Diego stated.
"I can get it out," I announced confidently.
Diego and Alison looked at me skeptically, but nodded anyway. I placed my hand near Five's gunshot wound and closed my eyes.
I concentrated my intangible energy on the shrapnel. Once I found the shards, I enabled my powers and the pieces fell straight through Five and landed on the ground.
My eyes opened and I pulled my hand away. I looked up at Diego and Alison, who had been watching my every move intently.
Diego had a look of fascination and curiosity, while Alison looked at me like I was an alien or something.
She hesitated. "How did you do that?"
"You guys aren't the only ones with special abilities," I said with a mischievous smirk.

I sat in an armchair in Five's room as Grace bandaged his wound. The sound of Grace pulling apart tape and Diego and Alison's hushed conversation in the doorway were the only noises in the Hargreeves's quiet home.
I pulled my legs up onto the chair and rested my head as I listened in on their whispers.
"Anything?" Diego asked.
Alison shook her head. "There's no answer at Vanya's place. The receptionist at her music school said she was a no-show for her lessons today."
Diego sighed and started to walk out of the room, but Alison stopped him.
"Hey, are you okay?" She questioned him worriedly.
"Yeah," he paused and watched Grace. "I don't know, it's just surreal seeing her. I just wanna tell her that I'm s—" Diego cut himself off.
"We don't have enough time. We gotta go," he finished.
Alison shrugged in defeat. "I don't know, Diego. Five is laying there unconscious... We need him."
I looked back at Five, who was resting on his bed and recovering from the shrapnel that was just taken out of him.
He's been through so much, and I sympathized him for that. Five deserved to be happy; everyone in this family needed happiness. They are just so damaged and dysfunctional. I doubt their lives would ever be normal.
I frowned remembering that my life would probably never change either. There's just too much dark history that I'll never be able to forget.
Shaking away my thoughts, I tuned back in Diego and Alison's conversation again.
"We can do this ourselves," Diego argued with Alison.
I wasn't so sure they could though. Their most valuable asset was injured, and with Five they barely stood a chance against the apocalypse.
"We did that already, remember? We all ended up dead." She sighed and rubbed the side of her head. "I don't know. I just.. I'm thinking maybe I should go back and see Claire before—"
Diego stopped her from finishing her sentence. "You can't run away from this, Alison. That's what started this whole mess in the first place."
The Hargreeves family seemed to be falling apart at the worst possible time.
"Luther was right," Diego admitted.
Alison scoffed jokingly. "I didn't think I would ever hear you say those words."
"Yeah, well, we gotta stick together," Diego said.
"Where do we start?" Alison questioned with a sudden hint of motivation.
Diego thought about something and then replied, "There's no other address in the file, but there is another relation listed. Jenkins's grandmother," Diego clarified. "She lived near Jackpine Road."
"You think he took her there?" Alison asked.
"It's a good enough place to start," Diego stated.
Alison and Diego peeked into Five's room, fully aware that I was listening to them.
"Hey kid, you coming?" Diego asked me.
I sighed and crossed my arms. Sticking together was probably the best thing we could do, but right now I really just wanted to be here for Five.
"No, sorry guys, but I think I'm gonna sit this one out," I responded hesitantly.
Diego nodded and they both left the Academy.
At the time, I had no idea what was going to happen. The future was unclear to me, but maybe if I went I could've prevented someone's fate.
