"it's hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember"

Diego, Klaus, and I were back in the car, which was parked near Griddy's.

Klaus was giggling about what had just happened in the bar. The whole situation really escalated quickly.

"You got a big mouth, you know that?" Diego pointed out to Klaus.

"Oh wow. What a truly shocking revelation, Diego," Klaus entertained.

"Everything's a big joke to you right?" Diego looked over at Klaus, who was unwrapping something. Diego grabbed whatever it was Klaus was holding and threw it out the window. "Would you stop it?"

Klaus pouted and threw his arms up in the air, hitting his knees on the way down.

"Why are you putting this shit in your body?" Diego asked angrily and held up pills.

Klaus scoffed and rolled his eyes.

"Check this out." Diego pulled his black jacket back and smacked his chest. "My body is a temple. All that shit you do, it's just weakness."

"Oh, wow, beautiful," Klaus replied sarcastically.

I leaned forward. "He's right, Klaus. These drugs will seriously mess you up."

"Well weakness feels so good," Klaus groaned and pulled out more pills.

I reached my hand through the seat and Klaus, grabbing the drugs out of his hands, while Diego smacked him on the head.

Diego shouted at Klaus, "What's goin' on with you?"

"Don't hit me, asshole!" Klaus yelled back.

"Don't tell me everything is all right, because I saw you in there," Diego pointed to the bar behind us, "You were crying like a baby!"

"Because I lost someone!" Klaus cried.

Klaus has been acting weird ever since he came back from wherever that briefcase took him. It probably had something to do with that.

"Is this about the briefcase?" I thought aloud.

Klaus nodded sadly. "I lost someone. The only... The only person I've ever truly loved more than myself."

Klaus took out more drugs, but Diego and I didn't stop him. "Cheers," he said as he popped a pill into his mouth and swallowed it.

The car took on a melancholy mood as Diego and I thought about our own lost loved ones.

My breathing was fast as my legs moved swiftly through the dark hallways. Sweat dripped down my forehead and exhaustion started to kick in. There was no time to stop though. We were so close. Our escape would finally happen.

I glanced over my shoulder quickly to make sure Bree was still running. She was still with me, but she wasn't looking too good.

"We're almost out. Just two more hallways," I encouraged.

She nodded slightly and looked up. Her eyes widened and she shouted, "Guards!"

I reached for Bree's hand and phased us through the guards. When they turned around, Bree created a shield to block them from us. Shots rang throughout the hall as they bounced off of her shield.

Both of us were gasping for air. We were slowly losing energy every time we used our powers.

"There's no time to stop," Bree said as she began running ahead.

I followed her as we continued running down the laboratory's hallway. Finally, we reached our destination.

"This is it!" I shouted excitedly.

Bree and I stood in front of a grey, concrete wall. It looked like the rest, but this one was different because just outside of it were woods. Bree and I had been planning to leave through this wall and hide in the woods.

I was about to phase us both to safety, but when I turned around guards were approaching us.

"Bree, watch out!" I screamed, but it was too late.

The guards shot Bree with an electrifying bullet. She collapsed onto the ground and began shaking violently. Bree cried out in agony as thousands of bolts were shocking her whole body.

I had to make a decision. I didn't want to leave her, but I knew we wouldn't make it out if I tried to drag her.

Slowly, I started backing up towards the wall. Tears began to stream down my cheeks as I muttered sorry over and over again.

Bree attempted to crawl towards me, but failed because she was too weak.

It was time to leave, so I spun on my heels and ran through the wall and into the woods.

Never looking back, I sprinted through the woods, dodging trees and branches. That was the last time I'd ever see Bree, and hopefully the last time I'd ever see the Order.

"Well, you're luckier than most," Diego's voice brought me back into the present. "When you lose someone, at least you can see them whenever you want."

Klaus looked away. His ability probably has something to do with the dead. That must be a blessing and a curse. No wonder he's high all of the time.

Diego adjusted the rear view mirror and turned around. I followed his eyesight out of the back window to a man exiting Griddy's Doughnuts.

"That's our man," Diego announced.

There was something familiar about the man.

Klaus also turned to get a good look at him. "Hey, I know that guy."

"How could you possibly know that—" Diego was cut off.

"He and a really angry lady tortured me. I barely got out with my life," Klaus said.

I gasped. "Hazel and Cha-Cha."

Diego sat forward in his seat and started the engine. "We gotta get this guy."
