they started off as friends or rather acquaintances, both not looking for anything having both come out of serious relationships that ruined their idea of love.

they were good at that, acting like they weren't even physically attracted to the other. until that one night, at that one party.

honestly, none of them remember how it happened. it just did. one thing lead to another and before they both could even comprehend what was happening, they were laying in bed, their clothes in some corner of jack's bedroom.

y/n and jack had come to an agreement; friends with benefits. nothing more, nothing less. no strings attached. that was the deal.

so why does jack suddenly not want to fuck but rather make love? why does he not want to have sex with y/n but rather listen to how her day was? this wasn't what regular friends with benefits would do. right?

y/n was miserable. she spent countless nights crying, not knowing if jack felt the same way she did for him. she tried hiding it from herself but slowly she admitted it. she's in love with him. with every aspect of him. but they agreed that there wouldn't be any strings attached. so he obviously didn't have a crush on her as she did him. right?

y/n's phone rings, her screen displaying jack's name. she quickly wiped her tears and sturdies herself.

"hey jack" she says

"hey babygirl. you wanna come over?" he asks.
fuck. he never called her pet names unless they were in bed together, undoing everything.

y/n's breathe stopped. babygirl. did he know that was her weakness? probably not, but it still excited her.

she says yes and gets ready to leave.

as she parks outside jack's house, she takes a deep breath. she realized she didn't wanna have sex with him tonight. or tomorrow night.

not until she told him how she feels about him.
it was like a boulder weighing down on her, and she knew the only way to get it off was to push and push.

she walked in, confident that if she didn't tell him, at least she'd break off this friends with benefits thing with jack. if he didn't feel the same way she did, it'd hurt seeing him everyday.

gilinsky greeted her at the door, hugging her.
he felt the world still as he hugged her and he sighed, knowing how fucked he was because of the love he had for her.

she kissed him, probably getting him warmed up for tonight. he pulled back with all his might, wanting nothing more than to feel his lips be joined with hers.

he couldn't do this to her. he didn't wanna use her body for pleasure anymore.

"do you-do you wanna go to dinner or something? there's this really good Chinese takeout place across the street. and we can watch the notebook, i know it's your favorite movie." jack says sheepishly as he runs the back of his head.

y/n held back the tears as best as she could.
he wanted to do something with her. and he remembered what her favorite movie was. in that moment, nothing else mattered to y/n as she jumped up and down while yelling "yes"

he laughed with her, and he was 100% sure she could see the blush taking over his cheeks.

so they did it. they went to that chinese takeout place that jack swore was "amazing." y/n wasn't a big fan of chinese food but after eating it with him, it became her all time favorite food.

they watched the notebook that night. jack kept looking over to see y/n crying but as soon as she saw him, the biggest smile took over her perfect face and that put his heart at ease.

they talked a lot that night. about anything and everything. they talked about their familial lives, love lives, post school lives. anything that came to their head.

jack looked into her eyes at one point and took her hand. he tried telling himself to let go, to run away before he jumped in. he knew he was a mess and he couldn't ruin her like that.
she deserved better.

y/n looked down as jack grabbed her hand. she wanted to yell out her love. she didn't wanna hide it in anymore. but she was a mess; insecure and worried all the time. she couldn't drag him down with her.
he deserves better.

jack's mind went blank as he leaned in and kissed her.

fireworks went off between the both of them.
they kissed each other like they finally figured out what love was.

y/n felt more love and passion than she ever had before.

jack felt whole and at peace, finally finding the one constant in his life that he was always searching for.

"i love you" said jack as he pulled away, out of breath.

"wha-what?" y/n said, completely at shock.

"i love you y/f/n. i have for god knows how long. you mean fucking everything to me. from the first time we've talked, you've stood out and just now i'm realizing what this all is." jack rambles on, worrying that if he doesn't get the words out faster, he'll go back on what he said.

"jack i"

"you don't need to feel the same way y/n. you've been stuck in my head for such a long time. you don't realize how anxious i've been to tell you this. i love you."

y/n hugs him, without uttering a single word.

"i guess you feel the same way?" jack says into her hair.

"i have for such a long time now." she says.

so that's it. the story of y/n and jack.
two completely ruined and heartbroken people,
finding love within in each other.

looking at them now, you wouldn't be able to tell that they were ever heartbroken or sad.

their smiles radiate an energy no one else has.

jack finally found the happiness he was searching for for so long. looking at y/n, he feels his heart feel a way he's never and will never feel for anyone else.

y/n finally found someone to balance her out, a constant that would keep her grounded. shes constantly reminded jack how much she loves him but feels as if it's never enough.

they say god has made everyone a certain soulmate. it only takes a matter of time to find them.

y/n and jack found their soulmates.

each other.

getting used to you now
and it's freaking me out
freaking me out
you were just in my bed
now you're stuck in my head
i'm stuck on you now
