jack's pov

i heard a knock on the door and paused my movie. johnson was in nebraska with sammy and the girls were out getting ready for some party tonight. who could possibly wanna come over now?

i open the door and my jaw drops.

it's her. blue. the girl i oh so desperately fell in love with years ago.

"uhm, hey jack" she says, putting a strand of her hair behind her ear; a nervous habit she had that i fell in love with.

"hey blue. uh, come in." i say.

i close the door behind her and ask her "so what brings you here?"

"i just wanted to come over and check up on you. and, i wanted to hand deliver an invitation to you." she holds out a beautiful card and my heart drops.

in beautiful fine print it says, 'we're getting married'

"youre- you're getting married? to who?"

"stephen. he proposed a couple of months ago."

"but, blue. it was supposed to be us." i whisper.

"jack, there was no more 'us' the day you kicked me out because you thought i was cheating on you with sammy." she says, becoming flustered.

"i said i was sorry babe. don't tell me you love him more than you love me." a hand runs through my hair and i feel the world crashing down.

i always wanted a second chance with her but now, she's slipped out of my hands into another's.

i looked over at her, still holding her invitation.

"jack, i love him. he's treated me the way i deserve to be treated. he listens. something you don't know how to do." she says.

she gathers all her things and goes to the door.

"blue, what about the closure i need? the proper closure i deserve?" i say, wanting her to stick around a while more.

"what's the point in closure when it's already over?"

and with that, she's gone.
