"so what's up? why'd you call me over?" i ask gilinsky.

"i just wanted to hang out." he shrugs

i raise my eyebrows and say "you sure? you have your guitar out and that means-"

"ok fine. i need you to tell me if this chorus is good." he says with a smile.

why would he need my approval?

"what's the song about?" i ask him, putting a strand of hair behind my ear.

"the usual. ya know, being in love with someone you can't have. but this time, it feels different. and she's....yeah okay never mind. just listen." he stutters.

"okay" i whisper

somehow, i feel this is different. he isn't his usually giggly happy self. he seems distressed and i have a feeling that-

never mind.

he strums the guitar a couple of times then starts playing. and he sings.

"i'm not tryna start a fire with this flame
but i'm worried that your heart might feel the same
and i have to be honest with you baby
tell me if i'm wrong or this is crazy
but i got you this rose and i need to know
will you let it die or let it grow?"

"wow" is all i can manage to say.

"what'd you think?" he asks quietly

"i love it jack. whoever you wrote this about is for sure gonna let it grow." i say, giggling at my dumbass comment.

"would you?" he asks.

and then it hits me.

this is why he called me over.

i'm the girl.

"jack" i say quietly

he says "i'm sorry I didn't mean to."

he gets up and throws his guitar. i yelp.

"jack" i say, almost in tears

"you can go now. but, i actually did buy you this rose because i know they're your favorite. i'm sorry I-"

i interrupt him, putting my lips on his.

i pull away with a smile on my face and a small smirk on his.

"so, are we letting it grow?"

i laugh.

"yes"

this is so exceptionally bad but i love this song so i needed to do sum with it.
